We stayed at the lodge for 3 nights which included 6 game drives. We had an amazing time and would recommend this experience to anyone. The staff were very attentive and kind, and the food was incredible. We will never forget the time we spent here.

Went on a one night stay with the family. Great location and service. Not very impressed with the food that was served. We have been to Garden route game lodge many times before, and it has always been the highlight of the vacation, but not this time. The buffet has been changed to a normal menu. The dishes lacked flavor and the meat was dry. We were also a little disapointet over the zafari. They no longer have giraffes, and we had the impression that there were fewer animals now than it was 5 years ago. Although we saw many of the great fives, and our driver did a good job.

I had the most incredible experience at this Safari Game Drive Lodge! From the moment we arrived, Chamone and Nicole made us feel so welcome and at home. Their warmth and attention to detail really set the tone for an unforgettable stay. The highlight, of course, were the four game drives with our guide Luan. His knowledge of the wildlife and the ecosystem was truly impressive, and he made every drive an adventure. We saw incredible animals up close and learned so much about the landscape and conservation efforts. Luan’s passion for what he does made each drive even more special. I can’t recommend this lodge enough. From the exceptional service to the breathtaking safari experience, it was truly a trip of a lifetime! Thank you again Chamone for being such a wonderful person. What a wonderful long weekend away, and we wish we could have stayed even longer. Each game drive had something new to offer, it was just amazing to see so many animals from so close up and be able to sit and watch their interactions for as long as what we could. Our game ranger shared so many interesting facts and had a great knowledge of his field. All the staff provided exceptional service, from the golf cart drivers transporting your luggage to the restaurant staff. The restaurant had a wonderful menu every day and we were really impressed with their premier wine list. The accommodation was in a beautiful setting, very comfortable and with stunning views. We will most certainly recommend this to our friends and other family as well as to any visitor to our country! Thank you GRGL for a really amazing experience!

Having enjoyed the safari experience previously in other African and Indian reserves, this was very much a "must do" experience for my better half and I when visiting Cape Town (and South Africa) for the 1st time. After some careful research, decided best location would be the Garden Route Lodge and Game reserve as it covered a greater area and offered potential of viewing wildlife in natural habitat well away from any of the traditional "day trip" safaris accessible from Cape Town. Chose Gems of Africa and from first communication, through all transactions and importantly transport to and from the reserve, everything was extremely smooth, professional and seamless. Would definitely utilise this company again (next time it's Botswana for us) as they provided everything anyone would require plus lodge and accommodation provided at the Garden Route Game Reserve was outstanding. Excellent value for money as our package included x4 game drives - each one of which was different and offered excellent opportunities to see wildlife up close and personal. Our guide was outstanding, very knowledgable plus clearly put the wildlife first and foremost, loved the limited number of vehicles being in one area at any given time ie: when observing a male cheetah on a kill, or lion, rhino with calf etc, no more than 2 jeeps were near at any one time thus allowing the animals to go about their activities unhindered. Was very impressed by overall service, drivers and vehicles to and from Reserve excellent - thoroughly recommend.
