We stopped off for lunch. The food although tasty was disappointing in the visual and portion size for the price. We both opted for the garlic mushrooms, for a starter, but when it came it looked more like a garlic mushroom soup, for £6.50, the portion was small, in a bowl with a small baguette sliced through the middle. For our main course, we went for a beef stroganoff with chips and a salad. Again the portion size was small for the price and was more like a stew rather than strips of beef and did not taste like a stroganoff should. We seen other meals going out which were more an acceptable portion (steak pie was double the size for same cost). For drinks, my wife asked for a whisky and diet coke, what did the give her ? A 10yr old malt. Again the meal tasted good but for the price a better pub portion should be provided. A disappointed traveller

We stayed at this Country Inn for 2 nights . We found the checking in process unwelcoming . I booked 2 deluxe rooms however Room 5 was very small and basic not even a wardrobe and the toilet you had to pump to get it to work the shower was ok but could have been cleaner. There was a mug under the radiator I assume for a leak as the mug had a rust mark on it Room 2 was slightly better decorated. I did speak to the proprietor about the room and his remark was “It’s a 300year old building” I could not accept this as a reason for describing the room online as deluxe. The space where there is a chest of drawers could easily have been for a wardrobe The dinner food and service by the young ladies was good , breakfast also good ,thank you

Visited the restaurant for dinner while visting in nearby Jedburgh. Hadn't booked in advance but staff were very welcoming. Lovely atmosphere and decor. Great selection on the menu and the quality and quantity of food provided was excellent. Thoroughly recommend.

We booked a meal for our family for a Christmas get together. The menu was very good as we all have varied tastes. The Christmas pizza went down a treat! Very clean, light bright atmosphere. Service was excellent. Will certainly be going back again soon.

Great bar and friendly staff. Such friendly genuine service from the bartenders. Overall fun jaunt out. We had some food in the bar and it was delicious. The only criticism is it was abit warm, the fire was going all evening. Music was on later in the evening which made improved the atmosphere and made it more fun.

We’re incredibly grateful to the landlady at the pub. We went in for a late lunch today with my parents, husband, and baby daughter. Although they had stopped serving food until dinner, she kindly made an exception and served us. It’s the first time we’ve seen a restaurant do this. The food was delicious, warm, and just what we needed before our long drive home. Highly recommend this stop!

Excellent hotel, highly recommend staying here. The staff at this hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The room was immaculate and very comfortable. Had a lovely meal in the restaurant. Very nice village as well.

Booked a table on a Sunday evening at the last minute. The restaurant area is very pleasant, and there was a good choice on the menu plus a specials board. We chose maple glazed ham roast from the specials board, and pie of the day. The food was really good and the portions were very generous. We were too full to order desserts but we did see some lovely looking ice creams going to other tables. The only slight niggle was that the waitress slammed things down on the table, slopping our drinks.

Just had a evening meal. Dissapointing. My Burger was tasteles not the best and burnt. Packets english mustard awful dark brown colour,out of date. Chips reconstituted potatoes yuk. Salad brown and limp. No atmosphere in restaurant. Service by young lady was excellent. Shame about main dishes.
