The location of the hotel was perfect for me since the place I was attending was down the block from the hotel. Service and cleanliness was also perfect. The only thing that I didn’t like was that you had to pay to park in their parking garage even though you was staying at their hotel. It was the first time that I had to do that.

The hotel is in a nice central location overlooking the capitol building and the park. It was kind of shabby, the beds were very uncomfortable and the parking garage was a little sketchy but the hotel did have some redeeming qualities. The included breakfast was above average and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Overall I think the quality of the hotel matched the price and it’s within easy walking distance of many Hartford attractions.

Room was ok nothing special. Seemed to be clean, the water bottles that are complimentary though was opened and drank from. Also there was no hand soap in the bathroom. You have to pay for parking which is an outside company which they tried to charge me twice for so be mindful

Worth it. Staff was polite and helpful and room was nice for the price. Park across the street is beautiful and breakfast was beyond decent. Walkable to Infinity Theater on Front Street and literally next to bus station which was clutch on a rainy day. Walked back 1230 am and felt safe. You may run into someone who asks for some change so if that's going to ruin your day stay home.

I needed a hotel for the night close to Union Station so The Capitol couldn't have been in a better location. Its literally 2 minutes walk from the station/ bus terminal and right opposite the state capitol building. Downtown is about a 10 minute walk away. Check in was quick and rhe receptionist was polite enough if not overly friendly. My 5th floor room was clean and very spacious with a great view of the capitol building. It, along with the rest of the hotels, certainly wasn't the newest but everything worked fine, the bed was comfortable and there was plenty of coffee provided- better still, they use Starbucks. There's no bar or restaurant but a free breakfast is offered daily. There's a great bar just down the street which has an outdoor terrace overlooking the capitol and lots of restaurants within walking distance downtown. For the price I paid, I really couldn't ask for more and would be happy to stay at The Capitol Hotel if I'm ever back in Hartford.

While this isn’t a fancy schmancy place, this hotel was great for price paid, so it’s getting 4* as it exceeded my expectations. I booked the premium king room for one night as I was here for a wedding, and it was very clean. Front desk was very friendly. Nice view of Capitol building. Comically close to train station, so if you’re here on CT rail or amtrak, this place is ideal. Only tiny issues here - door was weird, you had to pull handle up instead of down, so I thought I was locked out. My bed had a few tears in the comforter, ceiling had some water stains, coffee maker was broken in lobby (but they had cold drinks, hot tea, etc in place of the missing coffee)..so very minor stuff, otherwise all was tidy. Standard hotel breakfast, nothing fancy but having eggs and bagels and yogurt is pretty good in comparison to most chain places. If you’re looking for boutique or fancy, go to the Goodwin down the street, but if you’re looking for a convenient, well priced option that is clean and easy, this place was perfect!

This hotel doesn’t care about customer service and their reservations and booking seem to be a mess. I booked through a third party and gave my card for incidentals and was charged for an additional hotel room. They refuse to do anything about it so they really don’t care about customer service. They couldn’t even explain the charges to me correctly, I had to tell them! I asked to speak to the manager but he never came to the phone but used one of his employees to go back and forth on the phone. They said I booked an additional stay/ room when I didn’t. And even if I did, you should be smart enough to see that on your reservations system at check in. They just take your money. Why would I book two hotel rooms when it’s just me? This was a business trip so my work is not happy. The whole hotel smelled like cigarettes, and it’s in a really sketchy area, so if you are a woman traveling alone choose another hotel AWAY. from downtown.
