Nayara Hangaroa

Enchanted island and this hotel suits it well. Serene, calm and with a great place on ocean edge. Food excellent as were staff. We made 7 trips to see the amazing sights. Well organised and great guides. A few-minutes walk and you are at centre of town. Great coordination of airline pick up and drop off. Room great size and loved being left local flowers by housekeeping. Sometimes food order not quite what we asked for. Probably our lack of Spanish although most waiters has adequate English

Very beautiful property with comfortable rooms with island style. Food had enough variety to always be interesting, was delicious and ample. The staff is very attentive and truly dedicated to guests. Our excursions around the island were fascinating with a knowledgeable guide who could cover topics from history to geology to culture. Our stay was on the "all inclusive" package, which was very convenient, allowing us to eat and drink at our leisure and included all excursions. We were fortunate to visit during the annual Tapati Festival, so our excursions included evening dance presentations and contests and other events.

The room is outworn, floor always dirty. We always had to ask for fresh towels. No coffeemaker in the room, you are better off in any low budget Motel at a US highway! The a/c worked but could not be adjusted to convenient temperature, it was either too cold or too warm. 3 bottles of water in the minibar were free but refill would be charged. The food is awful, in particular breakfast. The organisation of the excursions is very poor. Little information of what can be expected, rude and arrogant. One of the excursion guides was very rude, he refused to guide me, just because I did not find my passport photo immediately on my mobile. We had not been told that this would be essential, they did not check beforehand. To me it is a secret how the hotel can claim to be 5 star and how it managed to be on the list of "The leading hotels of the world".

As tends to be the norm with the Nayara hotels, the place is absolutely fabulous. Right next to the beach many of the rooms have a view. It does not have a direct access to the ocean from the hotel but it doesn’t really matter as it is right across the street. The rooms are super spacious, beautifully decorated and have both a bathtub and a shower. The rooms have a nice terrace as well. The overall look and feel of the hotel is wonderful. It has a terrific spa with sauna and jacuzzi where you can get fabulous massages. while this hotel might be a little bit pricier than the average eastern Island hotel, in certain seasons it can actually be a bargain, their prices include tours around the island (generally very pricey) and half or full pension. staff is kind and caring. I will certainly return and would recommend it!

Comfortable accommodations. Town is walkable from hotel. Staff were engaging, friendly, and helpful. Ate at the dinner restaurant more than the lunch service and dinner was excellent. We were there 5 nights and one daily special would have been nice for the rotation. The menu is ample but again a single daily special would be a lovely addition. Service in the bar was a bit slower (a note that service on the island in general is not rapid) and the food was not quite the same level as the dinner restaurant. Breakfast had a good variety as well. If you get a package with tours they are arranged upon arrival and for very good reason - flight delays are common due to wind. We had an eight hour delay the day of arrival but had luckily given ourselves enough time on the island that it didn't interfere with plans (four full days plus two half days for arrival/departure). Rapa Nui is a special and beautiful place to visit. If you are considering a stay I would highly recommend Nayara Hangaroa. Tour guides were all wonderful and we mostly had Teva who was excellent. They are currently offering dance performances on certain days at the hotel and I wish we had looked more into that over Kari Kari. Animals (mostly horses and dogs in the town area) roam the island freely but are well taken care of and do not cause a safety concern (they are not strays). Don't listen to heat index weather calculations online - it is humid and even with ample breeze will most likely feel much hotter than the posted temperature (at least in summer months).

We stayed 5 nights at Nayara Hangaroa and highly recommend this property. Special thanks to the whole front office team who went the extra mile to deliver Virtuoso benefits (as part of our combined Nayara Atacama booking) although the hotel is technically not affiliated with Virtuoso yet! From check in to check out, the front office team has been extremely accommodating. Room: We had a sea view room which was comfortable and spacious, also very well isolated from noise. F&B: Being on a remote island, food selection is relatively limited, however the half board inclusions are generous and you can easily go out for lunch in the village nearby. Activity: The excursions are very well organised, and well suited for people who want a relaxing and hassle free itinerary. For people who are more adventuous and prefer a more customised itinerary, I highly recommend the private tours which include a reasonable surcharge. Spa: The massages and private sauna are both amazing after a full day of excursion. I loved the massages so much that I went 3 times over 5 days.
