If you want your stay in Hakone to look like a romantic Japanese travel ad, then this is the place for you. The villas are all different so I can only speak to villa 6, but it was right out of one of those glossy photo books you pick up at Kinokuniya. There is a wood-burning fire stove, a Bluetooth sound system, a high slanted ceiling over the bed with a cover that can be remotely controlled. The toilet and bathroom are up the stairs near the bathtub and shower room, which are picturesque and then lead to the small but cozy private outdoor onsen, shrouded by trees. I stayed in November and the foliage was gorgeous. On the grounds is a cafe/lounge and a restaurant. Or you can choose a nearby eatery and the staff will drive you there and pick you up afterwards in their van. The staff aren’t completely fluent in English but are very eager to be helpful and as polished and professional as befits a nice Japanese resort. If you’re looking to get away from Tokyo for a day or two or three, I highly recommend this lovely retreat. It’s possible to make some truly beautiful memories here.
