Good Property, Poorly Maintained – Needs Urgent Upgrades I recently stayed at the Mayflower Hotel in Pan Bazar, Guwahati, from 26 to 28 July 2025. While the property has great potential with its central location and spacious rooms, the overall experience was disappointing due to poor upkeep and lack of basic amenities. The room was large but had a musty, unpleasant odor. Basic toiletries like soap, shampoo, and conditioner were of sub-standard quality. Surprisingly, even a shaving kit was not complimentary and was chargeable. Only one bath towel was provided—no hand towel or face towel — which is not acceptable for a hotel of this category. The bathroom was a major letdown. The shower area and bath enclosure had visible black fungus, clearly indicating neglect and poor maintenance. To add to the discomfort, only one 500ml bottle of water was provided per day—any additional water was chargeable, which felt petty and unwelcoming. The only redeeming factor was the food—freshly prepared, consistently delicious, and always served piping hot. The kitchen staff deserves special appreciation. Mayflower Hotel is a place worth visiting for its food, but if you’re planning to stay overnight, be prepared for a disappointing experience unless the management seriously addresses the hygiene and service issues.
