Princess Senses the Mangrove Resort - Adults Only

Booked a last minute long weekend at this gorgeous new resort for my 50th birthday in an overwater villa. First I must shout out to the driver who picked us up at the airport and took us back, Kevin! He was amazing! We hope to return and have him as our guide. Getting to visit with him on our drive was the perfect way to start our trip! The resort was beautiful and new, overwater villa was fabulous and the food at all of the restaurants was wonderful. We had a fabulous time but did have a few disappointments. It was my actual birthday and after reading many reviews here, I expected our butlers to be on top of it but they really dropped the ball. Nothing “special” until night when my husband finally asked them why they hadn’t done anything for my birthday. And then, we waited outside while they decorated the bed that we were about to get in. Too little, too late. Also, the butler service was really slow. We’ve had butler service before and it never took over an hour to get a drink or 2 hours for breakfast. Hopefully they get that worked out because the place really is gorgeous and we’d love to return but it’s tough to pay for 5 star service and not receive it!

The hotel was sensational, we all thoroughly enjoyed the stay, staff were amazing and food delectable. We all agreed that it was the best resort that we had visited. The one thing which we thought would improve the stay would be to have a Pool table! Billiards was fun but pool is just great!

First up, I am not a travel agent, blogger, influencer etc. This stay was paid for by us as a vacation, so it will include the good stuff, as well as the disappointments. I don't normally drop reviews, but as the place is only recent, and most reviews I've seen so far are from travel agents and others in the industry who would have had a gilded view of their stay, I wanted to give an guests POV. Length of stay: 6 nights, 7 days from Dec 26 through Jan 1 Room Type: Princess Overwater Villa with Infinity Pool Overall, this place was great. Food, drinks, vibe. Was just what we needed. Was everything perfect, no, but the great far outweighed the disappointing. As we booked our stay before they were open, we did get a good price. Looking at future pricing, it definitely going up. Would we stay here again. For the price we paid (~$10k/week) for overwater villa. Without hesitation. For the current full price listed ($4k/night). We might hesitate a little bit, and wonder if we might instead find another new location to experience. Neither my partner nor I can remember when we were ever this relaxed at the end of a trip. The Room: Was absolutely gorgeous, and the pictures did not lie. Bed was absolutely comfortable (firm, my preference). Room was spacious with a lounge, and a small bar. Bathroom was huge, with a large tub, a shower, double sink. The shower also had a door to outside which included an outdoor shower. Even better. Outside deck was perfectly situated to catch the afternoon sun and relax all afternoon. I should point out, about half the villa decks face east, so they would get mor morning sun, while the other half (which included ours), were more to the west. Given the location and how the villa was set up (#13), we had almost absolute privacy on the deck. No other guests in the nearby villas would be able to see our deck while walking to or from theirs. Unless some kayakers / or snorkelers roamed a fair way out, we were able to enjoy the deck in absolute peace. If relaxing in the water as opposed to the pool is your preference (sea water was warmer), then take water shoes. The sea floor was rocky and uncomfortable under foot. The Vibe / Pools The adult side was well below capacity given it has only been open a few weeks. I doubt there were more than 30 couples at the resort during our stay, which made everything relaxed, no wait when at bars or restaurants or by the pool, and perfect for trying to relax. When this place picks up, then it may be a much different vibe, especially with the prime cabanas being sought after, and likely reserved by butlers for their rooms from early in the morning. During our stay however, there would have been enough cabanas for every couple so no stress on that. 3 large pools on the adult side, plus the Platinum pool above the lounge, and the pool on the terrace outside the nightclub (a hidden gem with a great view). Arrival and Check-In From the moment we arrived at the Princess Senses The Mangrove All-Inclusive Resort, we were struck by the attention to detail and the emphasis on safety. Coming in from the main highway, the road leading to the resort was well-maintained, clean, and pleasantly lit, even at night. Security was thorough but welcoming, setting a reassuring tone for our stay. As we approached the entrance, we were greeted by another layer of security and the friendly bell staff, whose warm smiles and kind gestures instantly made us feel welcome. Walking through the lobby was a breathtaking experience. The interior design is a masterpiece—modern yet infused with soft, bohemian warmth. Every corner was impeccably clean, with staff constantly ensuring the floors and surroundings were spotless. The front desk team set a high standard for hospitality, greeting us with a hand over their hearts—a charming and genuine gesture. They were incredibly accommodating, always smiling and engaging throughout the process. Check-in was seamless, and we were quickly whisked away to our room in one of the resort’s brand-new stretch golf carts. While the resort is very walkable, the option of 24/7 transportation to and from our room added an extra layer of convenience and luxury. Accommodation Our journey to the room was seamless and innovative, as the resort provided wristbands that doubled as room keys. The wristbands were sleek, unobtrusive, and highly functional—access was instant, and we encountered no issues throughout our stay. The moment we opened the door to our room, we were absolutely blown away. The clean, modern lines of the design were breathtaking, and it was clear no detail had been overlooked. The interior design was stunning, seamlessly combining luxury with comfort. The room itself was incredibly spacious, featuring a massive dual rain head shower and a luxurious soaker tub—perfect for unwinding after a day of activities. As we explored further toward the back of the room, it became even more impressive. The pièce de résistance came when we opened our patio door to a view that can only be described as heavenly. The unit featured a large covered outdoor seating area, ideal for rainy days, as well as a second level with pool chairs partially submerged in shallow water. Stairs led directly to a semi-private infinity pool area, offering unmatched tranquility and exclusivity. Just beyond the private pool, the common pool was only steps away, with the stunning turquoise ocean only a few more steps beyond that. The breathtaking views and unparalleled access to the water made this an unforgettable experience. If you’re considering staying here, I cannot recommend the premium swim-out units enough—they are absolutely worth it! The hotel is outstanding and service fantastic, however the hotel was half empty so it will be interesting to see whether this continues once near full. Restaurants were great bar the Mexican the steak house offered wagu steak for 95 dollars but it wasn’t wagu so just be careful what your paying for. Keron the sommelier was just the best and offfered and gave suggestions for all wines, he just worked non stop! The entertainment staff particular Riley and Eric were just the best! They made our holiday so enjoyable with their energy and commitment to make guests have the best experience ever! The rooms were insane, huge rooms and so clean. There were a few bits of the hotel that needed finishing but it did not impact on our holiday at all. Everyone we saw working there had a smile on their faces and were the most friendly people we have ever encountered at a hotel. Can’t wait to go back

Visited early Dec 2024 during its soft opening (some work was still underway). There were opportunities to improve, however, I would return & recommend to others. Lovely hotel with great ambiance... Amazing staff I'd like to thank for helping to make a memorable vacation: -Sous Chef Oshane in Sesnses buffet - every day the buffet was great & had several Jamaican dishes, thank you! -Javia, waitress from Senses buffet offered great customer service -Jevon & Tanya from the gym: thanks for the exercise sessions, great work out. -Riley from the entertainment team was so much fun!! Thanks for teaching me the stir fry & other local dances, lol. -Kimanda, singer upstairs during dinner hours....beautiful voice serenading during dinner was a nice experience Pros: -Beautiful rooms: nice spacious room with a good layout & lots of shelf space for luggage -Love the beach set up with cabanas for open use -Very nice gym -Buffet was awesome, loved the Jamaican food options (loved the mackerel run down & warm rum bread pudding with raisins) -Loved the seafood restaurant for dinner -Overall customer service was great, staff are customer friendly -Various entertainment options throughout the day Suggestions for improvement: -Food at buffet need to be hot (not lukewarm) -Jamrock restaurant was a disappointment, should have steam fish, curry coconut shrimp, or other creative Jamaican items. -Stronger wifi needed, had wifi issues -Bathrooms by Euphoria bar (near building 4, close to beach) need soap dispensers & soap -TV in the room was annoying to navigate...need easy way to see guide without bringing you back to the start of channels -Night entertainment International stage show - should have more caribbean dances, too much focus on Latin dances (we are in Jamaica). The Jamaican flag should've been visibly / prominently represented on the globe on the screen, we are in Jamaica.
