We were informed by email when booking to ask for a parking reduction ticket on arrival. Having arrived at 5pm all of the tickets had gone. Perhaps ringing to reserve one might be advised. Parking is a short walk away near the Ibis hotel across the main road. The hotel was very busy and staff are most warm and friendly, anxious to help despite rushing to serve guests. Downstairs are several traditionally Austrian décor rooms, with an outside area which seemed popular. Staff wear traditional uniforms and tradition seems to be the unique selling point. However our room was modern, very quirky and sadly not at all to our taste. Very pink and “fluffy” with strips of mirrors on one wall and a toy “cat glaring down from s shelf. There are other rooms with pretty or rustic décor so ask for those rather than “Wonderland”. The bathroom is bling with gold basins etc but spacious with a very good shower and toiletries. The bed is comfortable and we slept well. The aircon is efficient once you’ve worked out it takes a while to come on. Both sparkling and still water are in the room. So much care has been given but sadly the idea behind the theme of the room didn’t make us want to return. Other rooms look much more relaxing. We ate in the roof top area opting for the schnitzel- enormous and rather dry and fish with very slimy potato salad. Wine and beer were great and the server outstanding in both personality and efficiency. A lovely touch was being given tokens for a free drink on arrival. On leaving again staff were so friendly, sociable and helpful. The prices are reasonable and although the hotel is in a busy modern area near cafés and skateboarders, it is an oasis of Austrian traditional values.
