The Inn at Grasmere

Nice room. This was a belated treat for my partners birthday. I’d upgraded the room, so we had what I think was a club room. We were in 304. The room itself was lovely, seperate seating area between the bedroom and bathroom area and with a little balcony with a view out to the village, very nice. We were disturbed on Saturday morning by workmen out on the scaffolding doing roofing work, right outside our bedroom. When we went downstairs for breakfast, I raised it on our way back with reception. I was told they hadn’t been expecting them to turn up for work that day, but they had. The work had also been ongoing for 6 weeks, prior to me making the booking and no mention of it. I was told there were no other rooms available. No apology, no offer of any compensation, no anything. We couldn’t use the balcony due to the noise and the workmen. The room was also poorly soundproofed, you could hear people walking in the corridor, as if they were in the room, you couldn’t even hear the bell of the lift from the room. A member of staff on reception later was more interested in his phone than doing his job efficiently, a couple of times. When we returned to the hotel on the Saturday evening to the bar around 9pm, it was noticably cold, and the fire was not lit. We got our drinks and moved away from the bar to a different area where it was warmer and it appeared that most of the people from the bar had done the same thing. Breakfast was nice. Just attention to detail most definitely needed in some areas. Overpriced for what you get in my opinion. A nice hotel, but needs some tweaks.

Me and my husband stayed here last week for 2 nights as a little Honeymoon after our wedding. From the moment we arrived we knew we were going to love it. We had booked the Silver Howe room which was gorgeous with a lovely outdoor sitting area too, and the bathroom was beautiful! All the staff were very nice and friendly and couldn't do enough for you. We ate at the restaurant both nights and thought the food was fab. We also loved the breakfast, I like the fact we were able to go and help ourselves to tea and coffee. We would definitely come back again, the area was gorgeous too. After a full on day for our wedding 2 days earlier, this was a perfect couple of days of peace and quiet, thank you.

Hotel in a lovely location, close to places we wanted to visit. Staff friendly and nice bar to enjoy a few drinks of an evening. Breakfast was lovely, good selection of both hot and cold foods. Room was okay, tired looking furniture though and the chair in our room was absolutely filthy, with stained seat cushions, needs replacing. The limited parking is also a bit of a pain, we had to park in a nearby car park which was quite expensive overnight. Overall would not stay again, much more convenient, less ‘doggy’ places to stay.

We booked this hotel for my birthday weekend and I was utterly disappointed. On arrival we were told that the car park and their sister hotel car park were full and asked to park on the main road, where we would need to move our car at 9am. Our room looked completely different from what we booked online - it was half the size and the bathroom was so small you couldn't fit more than one person. When explaining that we'd got the wrong room, we were told no other rooms were available and we'd have to wait for someone to check out the next day. Secondly, the towel rail was left on in the room, which made it a similar experience to a sauna. It was 27 degrees that weekend and even with the windows open, we found it near impossible to sleep. We were told maintenance would be turning them all off, but until the next day it was still on. Given the weather we asked the reception if we could have a fan for the room, similarly to the car park they said all fans were being used and we'd only get one if a guest with a fan checked out. We asked each day for a fan and one was never received. The next day (after moving the car) we viewed another room that was double the size of what we had previous - still not the deluxe double showed online. The team had reassured us both rooms were deluxe doubles despite being completely different sizes. So BEWARE when paying extra for a deluxe double, as you could end up with a small double room. Important to mention, another guest in front of us at reception was complaining about the same issue. Reviews online said to book the breakfast, I would say save your money! It was very basic, some of the food came out cold, and there were lipstick stains on the glasses. Over our weekend stay, 2 separate guests sent their food back for being cold. All that being said, the second room we stayed in was very nice and the location of the hotel was great! Once you got a parking space, there were so many great walks and so much to explore in Grasmere. At almost £200 a night I would be sceptical about booking to stay here.

Fantastic 4 days at The Inn at Grasmere.. Everyone at the Inn made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble the place was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean.. It was very warm so we were provided with a large fan in the room this made a huge difference. The pool was perfect for cooling down in after a hot day. We ate every night in the Inn it had a good and varied menu.. Callum and Fernando were both so lovley and could not have been more helpful and both had time to have a quick chat when not to busy, which was most of the time. My friend and I loved every minute and laughed lots

Well never in my life have I seen such a little amount of food on one plate for the price paid!! Braised lamb with mash? Yes a tea spoon of mash a minute portion of lamb and a tiny sprig of broccoli! It is beyond me how you can charge so much for that amount! Shame on you charging close to £20 for that! Absolute daylight robbery! You should never pay £20 and walk away hungry! Also the tofu dish was woefully small! I’m not even a big eater but come on guys that’s pathetic! AVOID!
