Our room was bright and cheerful, and the bed was comfortable. The continental breakfast was good, although nothing fancy (except for the homemade baked goodies, which were terrific). The staff was friendly and helpful. I wondered whether the "pet friendly" vibe would be a problem, but it wasn't. People's dogs were friendly and not intrusive. I liked the fact that you drove down a long, gravel road to get here; when you arrive, you have a real sense that you have indeed gotten away from it all. However, the best reason for coming here is the view, which is incredible! There is an upstairs balcony and a large porch downstairs, both with comfortable seats for admiring the view.. Specifically, the sunsets can be remarkable. The building was designed to highlight the view. This is a quiet, beautiful inn on the quiet and beautiful Schoodic Peninsula. One practicality: If you arrive here on a Monday, you may find it hard to find a place to eat. There was nothing open when we arrived, at least nothing nearby (i.e., Winter Harbor). We finally found a small, unlikely looking market ("Mc's Market") in Birch Harbor that had a kitchen, where we were able to get a decent sub. (They had pizza, too.) Tuesday wasn't much better, although Chase's Restaurant was open then (Winter Harbor). If you're willing to drive a bit, you'll probably have better luck. After driving 5 hours to get here, we didn't want to do any more driving that day!
