The Inn on the Lake

This is in the most idyllic setting. The hotel is spacious & comfortable with large grounds overlooking the lake. Very comfortable bedroom with lake views. Staff friendly and helpful. Food a little on the expensive side but there are other options. Will definitely be returning

Really enjoyed our weekend. The view from our room was amazing. The staff are all very helpful and polite. Lots of walks straight from the hotel.

Have long aspired to stay at The Inn On The Lake and taking a gloriously sunny week in March proved it was so worth the wait. Everything about the hotel from location, room, food and service was all we hoped and wished for. Such a fantastic stay with memories to dine out on for a long time yet.

As many have commented, the hotel is in a very beautiful location, the views are breathtaking from pretty much anywhere on the property. We were attending a wedding and lucky enough to be able to take advantage of a discounted rate so we treated ourselves to a superior fell view room which, even with the discount, was expensive (£300+ for the night i believe) . And that is why the rating for this review is only three stars. There were no extras in the room. Granted It was a slightly above average size, but the hospitality tray consisted of a couple of teabags, a couple of sachets of coffee, two packs of biscuits and the dreaded tubes of milk. None of the niceties one might expect having upgraded. Ditto bathroom extras. They weren’t any. Now it could be because we were on a discounted rate the hotel saves money by removing extras I have no idea but we did feel ripped off. That said the wedding was lovely, the food throughout the wedding and for breakfast was good and the service was efficient but it is all about value for money and having paid extra one expects a little extra. I wouldn’t rush back, there are plenty of other, just as lovely, hotels on Ullswater that cost fall less .

A beautiful spot at the loveliest end of Ullswater with lots of walks and the steamer very close by. Lakeview room ( 202) was stunning, albeit small in size but perfect and quiet. We loved the views and setting.
