Lovely onsen ryokan. Staff don’t really speak English so there’s a bit of trying to figure things out for yourself.  Nevertheless, service was friendly and helpful as best they could.  The outdoor onsen is really relaxing and because it’s not a crowded hotel, both times I went I had it to myself as did my wife and kids in the ladies area.  We picked the room with its own outdoor onsen tub which is a great option if you don’t want to use the non-private ones.  You can apparently book private onsens but they did not have any available for us (possibly because we arrived slightly late in the day).  Food was excellent for both dinner and breakfast.  Kids couldn’t;’quite enjoy the onsens cause they found the water too hot so you may want to make sure your kids can before you decided to splurge.  One final point, the ryokan is located down a tiny road on the right just before Google Maps tells you that you have reached.

I decided to come to Japan on a whim as the Qingming Festival was approaching. I found that the ticket price from Shanghai to Nagoya was cheap, so I decided to come to Gero to soak in hot springs for a few days. The flight arrived on time, but there were a lot of people at the customs. I arrived at the Meitetsu entrance at 13:50. I bought the express train to Nagoya Station at 14:14. After getting off the train at 14:35, I immediately rushed to the JR entrance according to the instructions. I actually caught the 14:48 Takayama Express to Gero. I took a free taxi to the hotel at the door after leaving the station. The presidential suite has many rooms. It should be recently renovated and the facilities are quite new. The meals are good. The first day was Hida beef hot pot, the second day was Hida beef barbecue, and of course there were crayfish and abalone...

It's far from the JR station, but the hotel provides free round-trip taxi service. The hotel photos show that it's old, but it's actually much newer than the photos. Compared with other hotels, it's very private and elegant. There are indoor and outdoor public hot springs and a private hot spring, but there are few people staying in the public hot spring, which is like a private hot spring. It's worth it! The dinner is amazing, and the breakfast is ordinary (a lot of fish is a bit fishy). Disadvantages: I don't know why there is no floor heating. The room is very large, but the air conditioning is not strong enough, so the room is always cold and not warm enough.

A small but beautiful example, the receptionist is wearing high-end traditional kimono, and the gentleman is wearing a suit. They will not help with luggage, but stand at the door to welcome and see you off. The bedding is 100% high-end down quilt, and the meals also meet Michelin recommended standards.

Very Japanese style, warm and thoughtful service, although we can't speak Japanese, we had a good chat through translation software. We enjoyed both private and public baths. When we went to the public bath, there was only our family, which was equivalent to a private bath. If I have to say a disadvantage, it is a bit far from the main area, walk about one kilometer. The next day, I went to the station and the hotel arranged a car to take me there for free.

The service is very good, the room is large, the grilled Hida beef kaiseki cuisine is also delicious, there are separate rooms for dinner and breakfast, and the waitress can speak fluent English. The only thing is that there is no bottled water in the room, but there is hot water and hot tea, as well as a small amount of snacks. It was a very good experience.

Everything is perfect, including the environment, food and service. Since it is not a large hot spring hotel, you can enjoy the quiet environment. The staff is very considerate to every guest. They greet you at the door from the beginning, introduce the hotel facilities in detail, and say farewell when you leave. The food tastes very good, not just the presentation. I highly recommend it.

Actually, this hotel is really nice, the hot spring is also very comfortable, and it was a bit regrettable that when I checked in at 2 o'clock on the same day, I was told that "it's too late, dinner cannot be booked" when I made dinner reservations.

I could feel the Japanese atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent, but dinner was a bit disappointing. The room was sufficient, and the hot spring was small, but there were not many people, so I used it almost exclusively by myself.

It takes about 19 minutes to walk from the station to the hotel. It is near the hot spring street, so it doesn't feel too far. The hotel's hot spring bath is small and the open-air bath is very comfortable. Dinner and breakfast are rich and delicious😋. When we left, the hotel also arranged a taxi to pick us up from the station, which was very considerate.

It was a very interesting Japanese inn experience. Due to heavy rain affecting JR operations, we arrived at Gero a little late and thought we might not be able to get through. Ctrip and the hotel were very responsible and contacted us very early on the day. We could communicate with the hotel in English via email and the response was timely. Guests arriving between 1:00-6:00 pm can take a taxi to the hotel for free, and there is no need to make an appointment. You can just take it at the station. The hotel also pays for the station delivery when checking out. The hotel's dinner and breakfast are very attentive, exquisite and rich, with fresh ingredients, especially some specialties from the Hida area, and the service is also very professional and considerate. Our room does not have a private bath, but the public bath is equivalent to a private bath, and there is no one indoors or outdoors. Although the mattress in the Japanese room is soft, it does not feel tiring to lie on it. The only problem is that the room cannot open the window, so fresh air cannot come in.

The service is very warm, the food and hot spring are very good
