Hotel Chopin

Its closeness to Piazza Principe railway station was the main reason for me to book this hotel. It is located in a traditional building. Reception was helpful and after asking I got a good recommendation for a nearby restaurant with Ligurian food. I was also given a map together with the WiFi password and a code for the hotel entrance - a door next to the one for the reception. My room was on the second floor and it was obviously meant as a single room. It had a view towards the street, but with closed windows it was quiet at night. A/C worked well, when I arrived, but no more at night, when I was cold in my bed with just a thin blanket. There was no spare blanket around. The room had a writing desk and an empty fridge, but no complimentary bottle of water was offered. WiFi worked well. In the bathroom there was liquid soap by the washbasin and for the shower a small bar of soap and sachets with shower gel and shampoo. Breakfast on the ground floor is served as of 07.30. It had a small buffet with juices, fruit yoghurt, butter, jam, processed cheese, boiled eggs and cakes. Missing were fresh fruit. The man in charge asked me, if I wanted extra salami, ham and cheese. Also the coffee was brought by him. TV was switched on with a news channel.

Very comfortable bed and pillows (and I'm very picky) and effective aircon which was great after a week in italy without it. Helpful staff on the check in desk. Unfortunately I didn't get to try the breakfast though as we had to check out super early to go to the airport (I could smell the freshly baked croissants though on the way out!)

The hotel is great, everything was good, we stay here for 3 night and we will come back for next year. Rooms are clean, location is close to sea and railway station. The people who work there are so nice and helpfull. Thank you for this time. See you next year.

I stopped at Hotel Chopin for 3 nights in May24. When you first arrive, you might be a little shocked by the rundown exterior but don't be put off, it's much nicer inside and the staff are a delight. I stopped in a standard double which cost me 122euros a night (the price varies a lot based on the day !) The room was minimalist but modern and comfortable with a nice large bathroom with shower. The bed was comfortable. The room has aircon but it wasn't individually controllable which was a little annoying - I'm from northern Europe and like the room cooler than most. The staff spoke very good English and were very helpful. I will stop here again when in Genova, if the price isn't too expensive.

Perfect location just steps from the Plaza Principe train station and a short walk to the port. Nothing fancy. Just the basics: Comfortable bed, warm shower, toilet and a solid breakfast. I would especially recommend for a short stay in Genoa or an overnight stay before your cruise ship leaves.

Excellent price/quality ratio. Perfect location nearby the railway station and the international busstop. Very friendly and helpfull desk. Providing a good map of Genoa with all the information you need. Good breakfast. Clean room. So, what else do you want?
