Havener's

We were really looking forward to our stay at Havener's, having eaten there many times. The food is always excellent and the staff are helpful and cheery. Unfortunately our stay was not what we expected in room 3. There were the usual little *******, as there is with any hotel, nowhere is perfect. But then things went downhill from there. The room was described as, "Rooms overlook the quay and estuary beyond", therefore we were expecting a view looking towards the coast and sea beyond. However ours was facing inland, looking up river. There was no body wash/soap in the shower, only shampoo & conditioner. We also heard this mentioned by other guests. The shower door was hanging on the runners by one wheel, instead of the supplied four. The toilet seat was loose and the toilet was very close to the wash basin to make it uncomfortable. The towels were laid out on shelves ready for us, but when removed, the shelves were still dusty. The central light fitting was unsafe, the outer sheath exposing the wires inside and not properly fixed to the ceiling rose or the light fitting. The room was not once vacuumed during our 3 night stay, and the final day, our room was not serviced at all! We returned to full waste bins, unwashed cutlery & crockery and unmade bed. For a 3 night stay, that was advertised at nearly £190 per night, this was totally unacceptable. I don't think we'd stay here again, but we would definitely eat here again. All grievances were brought to the attention of the General Manager.

Excellent location and a fabulous view of the estuary (room 2). Clean room, lovely soft furnishings, robe, pillow spray and much needed ear plugs, due to the central location it was noisy but the ear plugs worked perfectly. Extremely friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble. The rooms aren’t turned over daily unless you ask for it to be done, likewise we were asked every morning if anything needed replenishing. The system seems to work but it’s not what we’re used to. The breakfast was good, although the time range is 8-9.30 am, I think this should be extended to 10am. No parking unfortunately and if you park in the main car park it’s a 10 minute steep hilly walk, the hotel recommended a different car park but we didn’t feel there were enough spaces as we planned to use the car a few times. Overall a great place to stay, I recommend it and would return.

We loved our stay at Haveners. A brilliant location with great views of the estuary. We were lucky to have good weather so it was very picturesque. The staff were lovely, very friendly and couldn’t do more for you to ensure you had an enjoyable stay. We ate in the restaurant two nights and the food was really nice and reasonably priced. Breakfast was good too generous portions and we were well looked after by the lovely JLo. We had room 4 which was a little snug but spotless and nicely decorated with a modern bathroom. Only fault was the lack of a hairdryer which we did manage without. Nice toiletries and everything else you needed was provided. Our first visit to Fowey which we loved. We hope to stay at Haveners again on our next visit.

Had an absolutely amazing time - The views- stunning. The food - fantastic. The team - well what a credit to st Austell brewery. From arrival Georgia, Barris, Cat, JLo in fact all the staff made us feel welcome and looked after us throughout our stay. The attention to detail with the service, the food, help and advice about the local area and where to go to pouring the perfect gin was a massive part of why our trip was so special. Great breakfast & a beautiful dinner! We stayed in room 4 which was a bit too cosy for more then a couple of nights - beautiful & clean room but slightly tired- there is some attention to detail needed to some fixtures and fittings in the bathroom. Thank you to the whole team at Havener’s for making my partners 40th birthday celebration one we will never forget. We will be back - see you all soon!

Our third visit to Haveners and this was as good as usual. Location second to none in Fowey . A hub during Regatta Week on Town Quay . Loved the room - quirky and fun You can hear the water lapping on harbour wall from window . Food good especially breakfast . Stand out is the team - service was friendly and helpful. All staff made you feel valued and welcome . Will definitely return !

Fantastic location Staff are excellent. They are so friendly and fun to be around and on the ball with when you need a drink / food etc Would highly recommend staying Nice touches in the room which I wasn’t expecting Loved staying here and I love fowey

Recently spent four pleasant days at Haveners in Fowey. The hotel is perfectly located for all the lovely shops, restaurants and ferries albeit there is no onsite parking. We used the Caffa Mill carpark which about 10 mins away. I did download the JustPark app before we went and found it useful for quick payment, extending your time and receiving reminders texts. We stayed on a King room overlooking the square and estuary which was very nice, but please note that all the rooms are accessed by about 10 fairly steep external steps and the rooms aren’t necessarily turned over whilst you stay. At breakfast they ask if anything is required or needs doing for the room. Would say they need to put some coffee sachets in the room as not everyone wants to spend the time and effort using the coffee machine? We had two evening meals and breakfast every day in the restaurant and found the food excellent with lovely views overlooking the estuary. All the staff were extremely friendly and all in all would definitely go back, hopefully have some better weather!

Well kitted out room with robe, facecloth, sleepspray and earplugs provided - all of which was appreciated! We were well looked after every morning by J Lo who was very efficient and a friendly lady. The location is excellent, right in the middle of everything. It was a real wrench taking ourselves away from the beautiful river view. Loved it!

A fantastic location , with really helpful,pleasent staff. My room was excellent,clean , with everything you need and a terific view ! The breakfast was faboulus and i had a table ovelooking the harbour which was a bonus ! I am planing to go back later this year , and i would thoroughly recomend a visit if your in Fowey
