Folkestone (Channel Tunnel)

Accommodation fine but on this occasion the food and service was disappointing. Had to prompt to get our 2 drinks orders. Starters were fine but main course was like warm and overcooked. Yet again no orange juice at breakfast- the sign suggesting supply issues is well past its credibility date.

Disappointed with our overnight stay, room and hallway smelt strongly of damp / drains. We were in the block next to the restaurant building (separate to the main hotel reception). The bed was not at all comfortable with a dip in the centre, we’ve always slept so well on the beds at Premier inn hotels in the past. Bathroom whilst clean had rusty towel rails and was well used. Very noisy, you could hear the rooms above moving around and banging doors. We were awake most of the night, not really the overnight sleep we were hoping for before travelling.

The young man on reception. I’m disabled and need extra help. He refuses to check me in on the desk and made me use a self service machine. He then stood over me making me feel uncomfortable and flustered. This firstly didn’t work on payment as I was over the contactless limit but didn’t realise as I was rushing so I used another card and put it into the machine and it approved the payment immediately and took the money. The screen then didn’t recognise it had taken the money immediately so the man just closed it down and then took me to the desk where he made me pay again. I told him it had successfully taken the money and he didn’t believe me. Said it would drop back in which it hasn’t. He meant the failed first payment but that never went even through Both payments have now cleared and I’ve paid twice for my room. This not only left me unable to pay for the second room which my mum had to put on her credit card but has taken my holiday spending money also! And i’m now left short for that. I’m absolutely disgusted. I need a refund which hasn’t happened, even after speaking to the manager in the morning also and to raise a complaint.

Excellent service and value meal. Thank you food was really tasty and we just managed to be served before the 6 pm change to main menu. The staff were courteous and very helpful despite us not booking in advance, which in retrospect we should have done . Lovely break before going to Disney with family.

Makes getting to Le Shuttle an absolute breeze. No last minute panics because of traffic and a good nights sleep before you head off for Europe. 10 minutes travel time - and because it was quite anyway no queues, no waiting around and no delays. Rooms and service excellent value and perfectly adequate for what was a very good price. We chose the meal Deal because we didn't want to go in search of restaurants so the option of using the Premier linked restaurant seemed perfect. However the food was a bit disappointing, not great cooking as was the breakfast although you could eat as much as you want for breakfast so it was potentially fantastic value. I feel churlish being picky when actually the overall cost was not bad and the convenience has to be factored in. On the plus side the wine is very reasonably priced. All in all we would happily stay there again prior to Le Shuttle.
