The Sand Dunes

Kure Beach and Ft. Fisher are favorites of mine and the location of this hotel is in the heart of the area. Room was clean, beds good, kitchenette was helpful and it was on the ocean. All good. Negatives, air conditioner was very noisy and inconsistent. Pool lights and rear parking lot ruined the nightime ocean watching. Room smelled like mildew when we arrived. A bit pricy.

Great stay Very convenient location. The place seems like it’s been recently renovated. It’s pet friendly but there no pet odors. Be sure to get breakfast at Ocean View Restaurant. And if the banana pudding is on the menu, you must have it!

1st time staying in Kure Beach not much to do on that end so from now on will go back to staying in Carolina Beach. The motel room itself is a nice size the bathroom however is way to small and the shower is the size of what you have on a cruise ship which would be fine if you were on a cruise ship in the middle of beautiful clear blue water. Room had a small kitchen area which we didn't use. We arrived about 2:45 and they wouldn't give us a room unless we paid $35 for early check in, which we have never run into this problem at any other hotel. Just for reference check in was at 4:00 other hotels just go ahead and let you check in but with that said this is a motel. The next part of the review didn't affect me, but they don't exactly have the same amount of parking spots that they have rooms. They had one spot that was listed for loading and unloading and apparently someone came in later that evening and there was not a parking spot available so they parked in that spot then the next morning the motel was having their car towed even though it does not have enough spots for each room. Which I thought was very dirty they should have contacted the person in the spot and asked him to move their car. You have to gather up your own towels and put them in a bag and you have to gather up your own trash which for the price you pay for the room You shouldn't have to do. Room was clean.

I honestly cannot say enough positive things about the property. I normally do not take vacations and this was my first one in decades. The environment was what I needed. I thoroughly enjoyed that this environment was very peaceful and it allowed me to catch up on some much needed relaxation.

The only good thing about this property is its location. Outdated, AC is very loud, bed is not comfortable.

Property was nice but room 219 needs blackening curtains because the hall lights shine in and it is hard to sleep. May also want to delete the carpet and put in floors…carpet was wet and nasty. The staff is exceptionally nice.
