Quinta Dos Vales Wine Estate

We stayed here for a relaxing break pre wedding. Well, I don't know where to stay it went from bad to worse. The first night we stayed, the door would not lock. As you can imagine in a place where we did not know infact a new country and in the middle of the stics, this was alarming. We quickly made sure we let them know. They were reluctant to send someone out to help us, but after some persuasion (see attached messages), we managed to get someone out to look at this. He agreed the door would not lock. He said he would be back in the morning with tools to fix! We had to move all of our belongings where we slept and slept with one eye open. On arrival the next morning, he did not fix the door, said he would be back with more tools to fix, but we had to go to a kayak trip we had booked. We took all our valuables with us. That day, I called the place and asked how the door was. All this in mind, I had to call them to check?!!! What service is this ! A little voice said, "All fixed!" We were so happy to hear this, we were looking forward to a much needed sleep worry free. Arriving back at the apartment, the door was still bot fixed ! We can't believe they left it like this again ! So unsafe and worrying they would do this. The next morning still not fixed, they gave us a bottle of port for the inconvenience 🙃 two nights lost sleep, worry and £310 later a small bottle or port, the only plus side is they agreed to refund us 30%. See the photos below. We got back to England, and they said that they would not refund us the money and there was nothing wrong with the door ?!!! Couldn't believe it. We will be back in Portugal soon and will be visiting this place for our refund. Please see all the messages below as they have lied to us and left us very unsafe. Terrible staff and this place can not be trusted with honestly. The fact they are trusted to do wedding aswell worries me, I certainly would not be putting my trust in these people. Terrible This was meant to be a stress free holiday without stress. Very sad !

the place was a beauty. Very clean , very modern and up to date. the only problem is there should be be more signs from inside Estombar. had a little problem getting there. once there it was relaxing

We had an amazing time here with a group of friends and our kids. While the kids enjoyed themselves with swimming and miniature golf, the adults had a great time winetasting. Our appartment/cottage was great. Would definitely stay here again

We spent 3 nights at Quinta dos Vales last August. The location is beautiful and the villas are really great, brand new and well-furnished. Unfortunately, the service was not in line with the level (and the price) of the accomodations. They claim is a “self-catering” place but I would call it a “self-service” place. They don’t have a real reception or a guest service. If you have a problem, you need to rely on the people working in the wine shop which is open only during regular office hours and is closed on weekends. If you need something after 6:00 pm or on a Saturday you are screwed. They give you a number to call but only for emergencies. On our first night we couldn’t open the sofa bed in the living room. Around 11:00pm we called the number and after one hour a service staff came to our villa and tried to fix it without success. After another hour (it was almost 1:00am) they came to bring a cot but we were dead tired by then and we ended up sleeping with the mattress on the floor. When we got up in the morning our bed was full of ants (by the way there were many ants also in the kitchen). The next day, we tried to complain at the reception. We asked to have a refund for all the inconvenience they created. They promised to give us a partial refund which I am still waiting for (and probably will never receive). We also asked to have an extra chair in the villa since we were 4 and there were 3 chairs in the villa. The guy at the wine shop took note and said he would report our requests but nobody called us afterwards and the extra chair never appeared. This is odd because we booked the villa for 4 people and we would have expected that the villa was equipped for 4 people. In summary, the place is beautiful, but they clearly lack experience in running a hospitality business which is quite different than running a winery. It’s a shame because the place has lots of potential. My only regret is that I paid upfront all the balance otherwise I definitely not have paid the full amount due.
