Sol Marbella Estepona Atalaya Park

I went on holiday with my daughter and two Granddaughters for 4 nights as a special treat. We arrived at the Hotel Sol Marbella Estepona Atalaya Park by Melia having booked with Love Holidays but this hotel did not look like the photo in the brochures which showed low rise with a lovely pool, restaurant and nice big gym. But the building we were taken to was a high rise building which when we went in reception we thought, oh yes, this looks nice. We went to our room and all through the corridors we could not believe our eyes at the state of some of the walls, woodwork etc.We looked at the gym which was dark and dingy with hardly any equipment in it. It was like something that hasn't been sorted since the 1970's. We got to our room, which was a suite, to be met with a really musty smell, the hand dryer did not work, the windows were filthy, there were no towels in the room and when we tried to open the patio door, the handle came off in our hand and all the runners were disgusting. We went back to the reception and she told us it was the 'Best Room in the Hotel'. She said she would get someone to come and clean the floor and the patio runners so we went back. She came with a mop and did under the curtain and then went. Then two men came with tool kits to mend the door. We went for lunch whilst they were in our room which was awful. The pork was pink in the middle and the paella was nothing like paella. The staff were stressed and rude. We went back to the room and decided that we could not stay any longer so went to reception to tell them but there was nobody there. We waited to have a word with them but nobody arrived so we just left the keys on the reception desk. We booked another hotel on line and paid for a taxi to take us. The hotel will not pay us our money back even though we did not even stay there and Love Holidays said they cannot do anything about it so we are now out of pocket by £1000! All I can say is make sure you know where you are staying is as described.

Huge hotel. Can’t imagine in peak season that said our kids have grown up. Lots here for kids. Bit out of the way. Need a car! Maria Jose in bar was delightful. Friendly and bubbly. Give this woman a raise in salary! 10/10 at her job . Every hotel needs her! Food good. Staff good some not so much. Hotel clean and cleaning staff so good!

Just returned from a short golf break here booked through Golfbreaks! Decided to take the wives on a golf trip for the first time so decided an all inclusive was the way to go. We were delighted upon check in told be told we’d all been upgraded to their Villas. These Villas were absolutely superb, all with their own distinct style, myself and my wife’s was a Spanish Style Villa, number 5004, it was incredible! Looked like it had just been renovated, lovely and bright with tiled floors. 2 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a fully functional kitchen with a stocked fridge full of drinks and a huge living area with sofas, chairs flat screen tv and large Bluetooth sound system. There was also a large tv in the bedroom we used, maybe in the other room as well, I’m not sure! Large dining table and chairs also there. Outside was a large private garden going around the entire villa including another table and chairs with two full size sun loungers and even an outside shower! Individual remote controlled air conditioning units were in the 2 bedrooms and living area as well. The hotel itself was spotlessly clean. All the staff were polite and helpful. It’s an extremely large hotel with bars and restaurants everywhere, not all appeared to be open and the hotel pools were lovely and quiet, the pools themselves were the perfect temperature. The food in the buffet was nice, the evening meal was definitely better than lunch. As people have said in other reviews, the beach isn’t great at all, not the hotels fault obviously but you really can’t go for a swim as there’s just millions of large rocks and pebbles at the sea bed, I did try a dip once with some shoes on and it’s just dangerous really, there were quite large waves and it was difficult to get back out of the water with the slippery stones! There are some truly incredible views of the sea from the bars near the shore. It’s such a shame about the beach because it’s such a great location. It’s about 20 euro to go into Puerto Banus and taxis are almost instant. There’s a decent shop in the hotel for all your needs! All in all we really enjoyed this unique style hotel and would highly recommend and the upgrade really did make this a holiday to remember!

We booked a 10 night all inclusive holiday at this resort costing over £6k for the whole family from end of July to first week of August 2024. We really needed this holiday as our daughter had finished her GCSEs, we lost my father and both work very stressful jobs, myself within the NHS, so felt we deserved something really special. However, this holiday I feel should have cost more like £100 for the whole holiday if not lower. We booked via easy jet website 2 double room, expecting two double beds in a room. Nope, to my horror it was two separate rooms so my family holiday ended up with my children being split with one of us parents in with them. Our daughter whom a has Autism, was very distressed about this and then when told our rooms were separate double rooms not two doubles in the one room, I was absolutely mortified. We had paid for a balcony / terrace and ended up over looking the area where they have the deliveries and rubbish. Not a lovely view of anything. You could see the sea, just if you leant over the balcony careful not to fall over the top and the smell of warm rotting bags in the evening was disgusting, you couldn’t have the door open. There was a permanent bright light on going into the yard below, which lit our room at night and the continuous noise from the units which I think is probably for the whole hotel was unbearable. I literally slept 2 hours on the day we arrived and cried as I just wanted to go home. I have never had a view like that or been mislead with the rooms before when I’ve booked a family holiday. As the holiday went on it was more and more disappointing. We complained 3 times about the air con not working in one of the rooms and each time told the engineer is going to look at it now. Never did. Then told its the whole hotel air con that’s gone down and is being sorted, yet we’d complained about this from day 1 of our holiday. On one eve we had to try and sleep in heat of 30.5 which as you can imagine not being able to open the door due to the smell and noise of the staff and deliveries was ridiculous. The room next door to us seemed to be the cleaners room where all the trollies etc were kept too so clearly our two rooms were the worst rooms of the entire row and to be perfectly honest, should NOT be booked for paying customers! We slept a max of 4 hours a night every night, as we’d have the staff wheeling the trollies with barrels, rubbish etc from 11 till 12. Then from 4 am every morning pretty much every hour after there were rubbish collections and deliveries. The staff would be talking so loud and smoking it was disgusting and very inconsiderate to the customers having to sleep directly over them.this area should have a permanent roof structure to dull the noise and smell not a few sail like pieces draped particially across. The bathroom door handle was falling off and again never fixed so had to be careful not to close the door for fear of being trapped. Beds were typical cheap mattresses, so hard and

Very good hotel, with some extra. Very nice people working ther. Victor and his team took good care of us. And the lovly Paula in the lobby bar! Always with a smile. Tank you. Lovly visit. I highly recomend. I think it will be beasy in seson. Nice gym, good food

I recently stayed at Sol Marbella Estepona Hotel and had an overall pleasant experience. The hotel itself was nice, and the food offered a great variety with something for everyone. However, there wasn’t much going on during our stay, which I assume was due to the time of year. One thing I did expect, given the international clientele, was an English version of the hotel’s itinerary or activity schedule, but unfortunately, that wasn’t available. The hotel was quiet, but there were two standout staff members, Garrido and Manuel, who truly made our stay more enjoyable with their exceptional service. The cleaning team also deserves a mention for their hard work and attention to detail everything was spotless throughout our stay. While the rooms were adequate and comfortable, I did feel that the photos of the hotel online don’t fully represent the reality. The exterior of the hotel appears a bit more run-down than expected, though inside it’s very much in line with what you would expect from a Melia Group hotel, pleasant and well-maintained. There was some construction work being done on the grounds that wasn’t facing the sea, starting promptly at around 9 am each day. It did get a bit noisy at times, which could be a bit disruptive if you’re looking for complete peace and quiet. One downside is the hotel’s location—it’s not situated in Marbella or Estepona, and is quite a bit out of the way. For us, this meant renting a car to get anywhere, which wasn’t ideal as we prefer to explore on foot. I’ve given a 3-star rating because, while I had a generally pleasant stay with great food and exceptional service from the staff, there were a few factors that impacted my overall experience.
