Please avoid staying at this hotel. We stayed here on 17 July 2025 for one night. When we checked in, we were asked to pay. We had already paid in advance! We ignored the comment at that stage. We were given room C5. It only had one tea bag and one creamer and no spoons. My husband rang for some tea bags, creamer and spoons. We waited for 45 minutes but none arrived. In the meantime we discovered that the bedside reading lamp was not working and the bathroom cold tap was too tightly closed. We rang for those but no one turned up. My husband then asked for the duty manger and he offered to change the room. We were given C1. The new room seemed okay till we discovered that the safe was not working! We had given up at that point so we didn’t complain. Around 10 pm the power got cut off for a second and then we were told the hotel generator had kicked in. The AC had stopped working despite the other lights etc were working. When we called, the reception told us that the “AC will work when the power is back”. We were advised to switch on the fan, but we discovered that there was no knob on the fan that we could turn on! After complaining about the fan, a housekeeping person turned up who couldn’t help with the fan as it required an electrician. So he offered to get a standing fan, he got one but took 10 minutes to plug in as the connection was wrong! We were not able to sleep due to AC not working, so I rang the reception. At 1.15am who advised me that the power was not still back. He checked this with the person managing the generator. I then rang the local electricity board who confirmed that there was no power outage in Jinja. We could also see lights on the other side of the river. I called the reception again and told him about the information that I had received from the electricity board. He again checked with the person in charge of the generator and told me that the power was there but was not too strong and not enough for the hotel. He also told me that the problem was at the hotel end. I was not impressed and told him that this should not be the case, and it is not a duty of a hotel guest to resolve such issues. And hearing my complaint and the information from the electricity board, the power returned and the AC started!!! This was not a miracle or a coincidence. We felt that either someone had forgotten to turn on the power or ACs were deliberately turned off. We spoke with Duty manager Vishal and Manager Rakesh. They told us that we should not have been allocated rooms C1 to C10 as they were not ready and required maintenance. Someone released them. They also confirmed that AC should work whilst the generators were being used. They told us that the power was still out in the morning around 11.30 am but the ACs were working. They also confirmed that they are taking disciplinary actions against some staff. The staff had told the management that we wanted a room nearer to the reception as we are old!!! This was a lie!
