If you are in Pas de La Casa to ski and sleep but do nothing else then you might enjoy it here, but if you are planning to do ANYTHING else, like go out for dinner for instance, do yourself a gigantic favour and stay in town. This hotel is very very isolated and getting to and from it is an absolute nightmare, especially in the evenings. Sadly though, it’s not only the location that disappoints… I do understand that the Picmaia is not a luxury hotel, but the four-bed family room we had was straight out of 1980! If ‘basic’ and ‘tired’ are two of the themes you look for in a hotel room, then go ahead, you’ll love it here. You’ll appreciate the shower curtain too! The food is interesting. With offerings ranging from half-decent to appalling, the buffet has something to suit all tastes. If you want something a little nicer or food that isn’t cold, you could always go into town, but beware the journey home… On a positive note though, there are THREE petrol stations directly outside the hotel (not featured in any of the photos in the brochure for obvious reasons), so if you’ve brought your own car, you’ll never have to worry about running out of fuel.
