Acclaim Rose Gardens Beachside Holiday Park

ANT PROBLEM - BEWARE!!!! We love Emu Point so decided to stay here for 6 days. During our first night we noticed a few ants… nothing major… or so we thought. The sites have not been treated for ants (we spoke to the manager) and we were infested by morning. But literally infested. We had numerous nests everywhere. Black moving mounds of ants. We went through two packets of ant traps (different types to cover our bases) and a whole big can of spray in 1,5 days but nothing stopped them. By day three we were literally teeming with them and had to pack up and leave early to go home. Very disappointing that the park knows about their huge ant problem but doesn’t seem to care enough to do anything to help unknowing guests. There’s no notice on their website and no mention that we may need to protect ourselves for ants and on chatting with friends we realised that many, many people have experienced the same problem, it’s not an isolated incident. A few ants are normal but this was next level. Their solution was so sorry just use an ant bomb when you get home. Right, we drove 5 hrs to get there… and it’s spoilt our holiday…. that’s really just not good enough! Kicker… we now have a credit note on our account. They don’t give refunds! Totally, totally unacceptable!!!! So sad that we have had this absolutely awful experience in such a lovely part of the world. The staff, as nice as they are, are clearly not that concerned about the problem because it would not take much to put some powder or insecticide down between guests when you clean a site and get it ready for a new guest. Sorry but you get a 1/5. And that is for location only.

Sites have some grass and concrete slabs. Unfortunately ours has a crack and I tripped and face planted. The sympathy from the office was underwhelming. The recreation room was disgustingly dirty and neglected. Shower blocks were clean and modern and showers hot. Location is excellent.

I had to cancel my mum & dad's booking because my mum passed away & because I cancelled 13 days before they were to stay there instead of 14 days, they took $30 for cancellation PLUS half of the rest of the payment because apparently you have to give 14 days notice but I was one day late. Kathy was one of the most uncompassionate people I have ever come across. When I contacted head office, they didn't even reply to me either. I will never have a nice word to say about this company.
