We were walking in the area and booked an overnight stay at The Blue Bell. On the day we were arriving after a 16 mile walk, we got a message saying it would be self check in with no restaurant or breakfast available. There were no toiletries or hot water either when we arrived. Fortunately, the excellent Grey's Inn round the corner helped us out. This is probably the worst service I have ever experienced.

Booked online for a meal and received a call some time later to say they didn’t have a chef so our reservation was cancelled no apologies or anything. Over 3 hours later they were still accepting bookings online so maybe we were cancelled for a better booking

After walking in on Saturday night to simply book a table for lunch… we eventually left 2.5hrs later after having a great time chatting away!! Sunday lunchtime arrived!! And all we can say is OMG!! It’s the BEST Sunday Roast EVER!! You HAVE to visit!! We’ve already booked for another night during our weeks stay in Embleton!! Love it!!

A visit for a Sunday roast dinner, great welcome and service. The choice of drinks are plentiful with quality local beers and ales. The roast beef dinner was delicious. Looking forward to returning and trying more of what they have to offer.

Had an excellent dinner in this very friendly pub. Fish and chips were literally the best we have ever had superbly cooked and very tasty. Son had a superb beef burger. Staff very friendly, even had treats for the dogs. Highly recommended and good value

Had epic roast dinner today. Manager super helpful and attentive. Best gluten-free roast dinner I've EVER had! Chef adapted the meal for me. Dogs got a treat too! Thanks for a lovely experience. We went back to our holiday cottage very happy.

Great bar and restaurant located in a traditional Grade2 listed inn. Our meal was delicious, and freshly cooked to order. A slightly limited menu, but for a small business, I always think this indicates fresh food freshly cooked, rather than a huge menu of pre-prepared dishes. The barman/manager was a great guy, friendly and attentive and nothing a trouble. Would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant if you’re in Embleton

Booked a table for dinner on 29 June and received an email confirmation. Arrived to find that there was no record of the booking with the inference that this must in some way be my fault. A table was found and we were informed that at least 4 items on the menu were unavailable. Surprising at 7pm on a Saturday evening. We ordered drinks and then when we were asked for our food order, requested crab linguine, only to be told that this was now also sold out. We then paid for the drinks and left without eating. A very poor experience.

Really pleasant staff, very family friendly, they were especially nice to our young daughter when we went there for our evening meal whilst holidaying nearby. Food was great and the most reasonably priced in Embleton. The chef was very accommodating with the children’s options too. There’s also a great playground just opposite the pub too. They recently changed ownership so are no longer an Italian restaurant, so ignore menus online which refer to pizzas etc.
