Overall expertise was pretty good. Rooms were clean and spacious and the view from our balcony was spectacular. Service in the restaurant was superb, all cooks and waiters were friendly and polite. However, unfortunately we had a difficult time getting to and from the hotel. It is located on top of a steep hill - making it difficult for large vehicles to go up. We had a large group booking, and the hotel refused to produce a shuttle service and they were considerably unfriendly to our drivers which was disappointing compared to the service we got for the rest our our stay.

A lovely hotel with the best view from a dining room that I have ever had - and I have travelled quite a lot! Every breakfast was a real pleasure! Well appointed rooms, very friendly and helpful staff. It is outside the main part of Ella, so it’s quiet - but a short walk in to town along the railway (much quicker than the road). There are not many trains, and they are slow, so it’s safe to walk along the tracks.

Amazing place to stay in Ella! The views from the terrace and rooms are amazing, and from the infinity pool! The rooms we had were incredibly spacious (but there were different size ones). The staff were friendly and very helpful. Easy walk into town, but down a steep hill or along the railway track (or you can get a tuktuk).

A big spacious room with great views over the mountains, and a gorgeous pool area. Although the weather wasn’t on our side, we still had a great stay here. You can walk down the railway track from directly outside the hotel, to nine arches bridge via Kandy, it took us about 40 minutes. Good breakfast each morning, we also had dinner once. Friendly and welcoming staff.

The view is breathtaking .. can’t describe it in words. The staff namely Mithun is excellent at his work. He took an extra initiative to make us feel comfortable and provided us with great service at the restaurant. The rooms are clean and has a view of the mountains and the valley. Best place to relax and unwind.

Had a lovely stay at the mountain heavens resort as part of our tour of Sri Lanka! The team were so friendly and couldn’t do enough to help us. Special shout out to Ranjit for making our meals so enjoyable! He was so professional and kind! Rooms were lovely and comfortable. Pool area is great (even in the cloudy days) and the food was lovely and plentiful! extra thanks to the team (Shamika) for arranging a special meal and cake for my friends birthday which was above and beyond our expectations!

We had the most wonderful stay at Mountain Heavens. The setting is breathtaking and the staff were lovely and friendly. The room was excellent for the 4 of us. Lots of space and immaculately clean. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would love to return.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The views are incredible and our room and terrace were wonderful, spacious, clean, with a very comfortable bed. The staff were exceptional, so helpful with booking taxis and tuk tuks and sorting our laundry. Particular thanks to Shammika, the General Manager, who went above and beyond. The food is very good and the views from the restaurant are fabulous. Breakfast deserves a special mention - the best we had on our trip. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

I really wanted the negative reviews here to be wrong, but alas not. Firstly, the positives. Our room was huge, very well cleaned (on the face if it) , comfortable bed, huge terrace. The view is probably the best I have ever seen from a hotel. The staff were generally helpful and brought us a cake for our anniversary. Clearly, at some point in the past this was a high quality hotel. However, it is very dated, there is an excess of furniture in the rooms, and the decor is tired. The biggest flaw is breakfast. Exactly the same every day and no choice apart from how you want your eggs. I have doubts over the hygiene as there were ants in the sugar and a hair in my bacon one morning. The coffee was awful. You could get a different coffee from the machine but it was expensive. There was a cockroach in our bathroom also - though, to give them their dues, they did quickly deal with this and there were no further problems. This could be heavenly. Currently, it is flying far below that.
