The John Butler House Bed & Breakfast

The house was clean and comfortable. The beds were firm enough to sleep on. Sometimes a squishy bed will ruin your day. We were told upon checking in that the restaurant, where breakfast usually would be, would be closed and we'd have continental breakfast in the fridge. 2 bagels, cream cheese, and fruit and Danishes and muffins were provided. No protein. There was a coffee makes and coffee, tea, and packets of sweetener, though only sugar and Equal. Small shelf-stable creamers were there. If we had known the restaurant would not serve breakfast, we might have passed on staying here. We were given the door code for our stay, and it worked when we checked in at about 5:30PM. We went to dinner. Came back and the code didn't work. We called the owner - right to voice mail. We called the restaurant and were given a completely different code. Did they change it in 2 hours while guests were there?? We tried the code with the restaurant on the line, and it didn't work. She then said, oops, try this number - the code was a different (third) number with the second code's numbers flip-flopped. If the restaurant had ben closed, which is was almost time for, we would have been stuck. The owner returned our call the next morning AFTER we'd left, asking, "did you get in the room?" The thought of being locked out all night takes this B&B from a 5 to a 3. There wasn't a lot of concern shown for our predicament. It felt unprofessional to say the least.
