Melidron Hotel

I stayed here for 4 nights after a week in a villa elsewhere. The location is great, Supermarket with 2 mins walk,as is the beach. The pool is gorgeous and was never busy at all as there are only 24 rooms. The breakfast is simple and fresh and had the best eggs ever The room is functional and clean, close to the the bar and breakfast room. The hotel is small, traditional and very friendly indeed,there were people there that return year on year as it's so special and personal. We have stayed in some amazing places before, but this for us is the nicest welcome and were so well looked after by all of the staff, everyone was greeted by their names daily, and felt so relaxed. Wendy, Theo ,Costas would do anything for you ,as nothing is too much trouble. The people who stayed there were all lovely too, so we will without doubt return here for sure. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel and we liked the chill out bar 5 mins walk once you turn left at the see front. Honestly cannot recommend this place enough! Hello to everyone we met as too many people to remember.

I am quite sad that I have to write this review. First stayed at the Melidron in June 2023 and had a great time. But this stay was not the same. I know the hotel is in the process of being sold and I am well aware that our stay was towards the end of the season, but that is no excuse for not making an effort for the paying guests. For example, when we visited last year, bread was delivered every morning by the local baker. It was lovely and we went to breakfast every morning looking forward to eating the very fresh bread. This time we were greeted by supermarket sliced loaves - why? Not the same experience at all. Felt overall the breakfasts were not as nice as last time. The bar was not fully stocked either - no Diet Coke or Pepsi (don't drink full sugar drinks) and the wine I enjoyed during my last visit ran out the first day I was there. I kept being promised that they would get some more but after asking each day for the first 4 or 5 days of the holiday, I gave up. The lady who did the food at breakfast and lunchtimes left 2 days after we got there (and was not replaced) so there was only a very limited lunchtime menu available between 12.30 and 3.30. Last year the food available each lunchtime was great and we spend quite a few days eating there. This time we chose to eat elsewhere every day. Wendy was as helpful as she could be, cleaners did a good job but we left for the UK feeling that our stay was not what we had hoped and expected based on our previous visit.

Stayed at the Melidron again for a week in September. Most folk are 'returners' as there can't be many (if any) small family run hotels this good in all of Kef. All the staff are great and they look after us all so well. A big thank you to Zefie, Wendy, Aris, Kristina and all the other staff who make sure we all have a wonderful holiday. They are my 'Greek Family' since the first time I stayed here. I hope to see you again next year. This has been my 'go-to' place for many years now. Kefalonia, Skala, Melidron. It's my idea of my perfect retreat to wind down and recharge. You all have my best wishes and love. The Walking Wizard!

This is a gret hotel! The rooms have AC, which is must. Our room had a little kitchen too. Beds are comfortable. You get a safe with a key in your room. The maid refreshes towles etc each day. They provide pool towels. The hotel is clean in all areas. It is 3min walk to the super crystal clear waters of Skala beach, a 2 min walk to the first restaurant and a 9min walk in to central Skala.The staff are so welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast is varied but always hits the spot. Theo, the pool barman is a legend and looks after you. The Pool bar offers snacks from a cheese tostie for 4 euros upto chicken Gyros for 12.5 euros. All the ususal drinks available from Mythos beer on tap to proper coffee depending on your mood. We went away for a week to just chill out and the hotel made sure that happened. When I go back to Kefalonia I will 100% staye here.

I done alot of researching to find the perfect small and friendly hotel in Skala and I think the Melidron fits the bill. Everything was great , rooms are very spacious and kept spotlessly clean eveyday! Breakfast was ample , who needs a full English in Greece. The pool was lovely and never any problems getting beds. It was really hot but the staff all kept smiling. Wendy is on hand for any information you might need. Thank you Melidron for helping make our first visit to Kefalonia perfect.

Could say that the title says it all. Which it does, but doesn’t show the whole picture! As a group of 12, then 13, “senior” friends made over many years of footballing adventures, playing and/or watching, Wendy and owner Efie mustn’t really have known what to expect when our booking was made early in the year. Circumstances last summer meant rooms were rather unusually available as it turned out. Luckily for us! From Wendy’s initial greeting, & very helpful later advice whenever required, with rooms soon allocated (sea/pool view for me and my room-mate 😀), very clean btw and kept so by the cleaners, nice cold drinks at the pool bar quickly appeared, served by Theo and Aris, who soon got to know us, along with Costas who appeared later that day. All were extremely friendly, as were the other staff, and we got to know several other guests pretty well during our stay. We were even thanked for providing great entertainment (not planned!) by some! A Rock Music night was put on at our request (though some other music was included as the evening went on…Ernie??? Oh dear!!), & arranging for pizzas and chips for our last (quieter) night watching the England last 16 game. Special thanks from us all go to Wendy for putting up with our humour and banter, and finally Efie, who we didn’t really get to speak to until our farewells were said. Personally, I’d love to return sooner rather than later, but with my wife next time. A much quieter holiday then, maybe even with our daughter too (for Costas that one! 😉😄). Oh yes. Skala itself isn’t bad either!!
