Ventana Bay Resort

Highly recommend La Ventana Bay Resort. What an amazing spot on the planet! Spectacular views across the Sea of Cortez! Neely and Tony were excellent hosts and all the staff were lovely! Friendly casual atmosphere ! Top bar is my new favorite place to be! Breakfast was delicious ( ranch eggs) ! Lunch we had fresh tasty tuna burritos! Loved everything about La Ventana Bay

The website advertises a bar and dinner available with reservations. This is false. There is no bar. There is a beautiful rooftop sitting area that was a bar at one time. You are welcome to bring your own drinks. A limited breakfast and lunch can be had from the restaurant if reservations are made beforehand. There is no dinner service available at all. The lack of a microwave in the room and the fridge being very small makes bringing food back a bit of a pain in the butt. The absence of bar and dinner restaurant, combined with the need to drive to and from town, was a large negative for our holiday. For us, having an afternoon cold one or a night cap with other travellers is part of the experience. If we had known this was the case prior to booking, we would have not chose this hotel. Can you actually call it a resort if there is no bar. For this reason I would not recommend staying here.

I've now been to the lodge twice. It's got very nice bungalows, a restaurant and bar- & located right on the beach. Great spot for nature lovers. The grounds are very well-cared for. Staff are super friendly. They don't serve meals regularly, so you need to let them know if you want food, but the kitchen is exceptionally clean and the food is delicious. Also, just down the beach are some other places to dine. Most people would want to rent a car, but I didnt, so the lodge arranged transport to pick me up at La Paz airport. I highly recommend this place, especially if you like biking, fishing, aquatic sports, snorkeling, birdwatching or just relaxing in paradise.

What an amazing experience. Ventana Bay Resort lived up to every expectation we had in escaping to Baja and La Ventana. The Casitas are clean, roomy, private and oozing with Baja charm. The property is quiet and the view from our Casita was amazing. Nelly and her staff made us feel like family. Always available if we needed something, but rarely seen...a rare accomplishment. Don't miss the incredible breakfast made fresh to order. If you are looking to experience Baja the right way, this is it. We will be back again and again!
