This hotel is in a great location being so close to the M3. The SatNav was a great help as we were coming from Portsmouth and the dear lady on said SatNav took us through most of Eastleigh which I believe could have been avoided.
That having been said, it would have helped if I, when the SatNav lass told me to turn left had glanced at the screen and not just taken the turning I was approaching(I could see the Premier Inn on the corner of the road I took) as I would have seen that she wanted me to turn left 200yds further on. The turning I took went straight past the Premier Inn(there was no chance to turn into the Premier Inn as it led me straight onto the dual carriageway again and I had to make a minor detour and do a u-turn to get back on track.
Finally got there and the receptionist was super, smiling, helpful and efficient. The check-in process including the car was very easy and quickly sorted.
We’d taken a “Meal Deal” and had already booked in for 20.00 and also breakfast the following morning at 08.00.
Reserving in advance is to be recommended as slots in busy periods are soon taken up and due to the kitchen staff having to time everything there are limits as to how many people they can take at a particular time. The meal itself was excellent, served hot and on warm plates and you weren’t rushed to finish your starters and be presented with your mains which so often happens. Everything was very relaxed and you were given “space to breathe” in between courses.
We took as starters, Salt & Pepper Calamari and Spicy, Crispy Prawns and then we both had the Beer Battered Haddock, Chips & Mushy Peas. The fish was cooked beautifully and the portion was very large.
We’ve had some awful fish & chips in other Premier Inns but this experience has restored our faith, certainly with this Premier Inn.
Apparently the chef is Portuguese and he can certainly cook fish.
The breakfast was also a very pleasant surprise as, although the Continental was a buffet(situation normal), the cooked breakfast was made to order which is far better than some of the buffets you get. The breakfast was again excellent and served on warm plates.
There are however a couple of niggles.
The first comes from a situation that completely baffles me.
This Premier Inn has recently undergone a complete refurbishment and it shows in its cleanliness and decor. However, whoever decided that removing the workstation/desk was a good idea needs to rethink their motive for that as it was not a good idea, in my opinion. The des
