The hygiene in the room was horrible, the bedsheets looked very unsanitary, and lock on the room looked as if someone had tried to pry it open. The pillows were very flat and flimsy which were signs that everything provided was very old and overused. We felt very unsafe and uncomfortable during our stay.

Spacious room, nice kitchenette and basic accommodation. The room was a little tired and smelled a bit musty, but very clean and I slept well. Check-in was straight forward enough at the bar and very nice bar staff member. Several buses can be caught very nearby and it’s around 10 minutes into town (£2 single or £4 day pass). I would stay again :)

Was dirty everywhere in the room bathroom needed a full revamp and its need a bloody good clean and update was just awful

AVOID!!! What a shame, having stayed previously we wanted to give return business to this pub. Arrived and welcomed given key to room. That was the only thing good about our experience. The bedroom we were in was a family room which had seen better days, the mattress on the double bed was broken. We requested a non smoking room but might as well have not bothered because the amount of smoke in the corridor that then came into the room was constant. Bathroom was OK but very tired. The kitchenette should be condemned. Two fridges to use but not cleaned, when we stayed their was old mouldy food in both and they were just generally dirty. Music from the bar was loud as they have changed into a sports bar which they do not list on online booking platforms. I don't expect glamour for the cost we paid but I do expect a response from the owner. Sadly they have IGNORED all my emails as well as all the calls from the booking site to discuss our stay. Such a shame

Very cheap budget hotel (£41 for a Saturday night stay- family room with shared bathroom and kitchen). Room spacious, comfortable and clean.Room wasn’t very warm despite the radiator being turned up. Shared bathroom is in need of some TLC. Free car park. 15 mins walk to city centre. Would definitely stay again.

What is there not to like about this place, clean rooms, comfortable beds, great food and a good variety of drinks. The staff were all hospitable, welcoming and attentive with nothing too much trouble for them. Though located next to a busy road, traffic noise was at a minimum

Absolutely filthy, avoid this place if you have any standards! We were put in room 5, the room was dated and grubby, the carpet was stained and filthy, the bathroom, well what can I say, it didn’t have a light, folding door was cracked and broke and shower base and floors were full of hair! Clearly not been cleaned, receptionist moved us to another room, room 1, slight improvement, electrics worked! Following morning, was advised they had cleaned shower and wanted us to move to room 5, still no light in shower room, was advised ‘ the room reflects the price you paid, if you don’t like it, check out’, The place was filthy, I have photo evidence! Avoid if you have standards

The image shown on the website bears no resemblance to the room I was shown. Described as a superior double, there was not room to swing a cat. A pokey room at a very high price. In the end I did not stay. It is not a hotel but a pub.

Went here for Sunday lunch, what a bad choice, the food was rank! Firstly the dinners came out with wrong meats on, finally come with right orders, no gravy on, dinner was not even luke warm, we sat waiting for cutlery no one appeared so had to hunt the place for own knives & forks, we sat waiting thinking they were going to bring out gravy boats but nothing & still no staff about so eventually my partner had to go to the kitchen & ask for gravy! The meat was plastic beef, very tough to cut & was tasteless, definitely not from a proper joint, gravy was very thin & from cheap gravy mix, frozen puddings, what was supposed to be cauliflower cheese looked like lumpy mash, terrible🤮we just could not eat it, even worse with it being cold! We hung around for a bit to wait for staff to appear so I could explain politely why we couldn’t eat it but still no one appeared, so we left. I would never recommend this place as service was appalling & food was worse, avoid at all cost!!

Trip advisor reviews are very misleading, because the pub and its food gets most of the good reviews. However a vast majority of the hotel bed & breakfast reviews are awful. The back entrance smoking area had no ashtrays, grubby table & cig butts everywhere. In our room there was a blood spec stain on the main bed sheet. The bedside drawer was inside stained and filthy. We had the shared bathroom with no hot water, there was a crack in the sink. The bathroom window space was grubby and filthy. Some of the bedroom walls were also grubby & filthy. Furniture was old, tired & in need of upgrading

We have stayed at this property 2 years ago but this time was very different. We entered through the back entrance which is next to the smoking area 2 filthy tables, no ashtrays, cig buts everywhere, sick under a table. We were in room 5 with En Suite( which can only be described as a broom cupboard) and the sink was actually in the room ! Side of bed base was dirty/stained and the carpet was full of stains. 2 big greasy/dirty stains on the wall above the headboard and the curtains were so thin it was like sleeping in daytime. Don’t know when the last time the skirting boards or open pipe work saw a wet cloth. The bedding was clean but I didn’t dare look at the mattress or take off the pillow cases. The outside of the pub has just been painted and some painting was taking place up the stairs but it’s the rooms that need refurbishment.
