Yarn Market Hotel

Stayed here for the Dark Skies Festival, and can't fault the place or how we were looked after. The owner and the staff make every effort to make you comfortable, and well fed. If you have a chance to go to one of their event weekends, do so. If you want a weekend away in beautiful country, go here.

A bit late to make a review but I must! I stayed with a walking group in October for 3 nights. There was nothing you could fault, when we arrived our bags were taken up to our rooms, which were very clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much for them. The food was brilliant from the breakfast, packed lunch and the 3 course evening meal, we certainly had lots to eat. We hope that we will be back next year. We are still talking about our staywith you and have recommended the hotel to so many friends. Thank you Antony and your team.

Very comfortable with excellent food. Good size bedroom and shower room and both very clean. A little dated but that adds to its charm. Helpful staff. Beautiful setting. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Plenty to do in the area and the coast easily accessible.

Went with a walking group for a long weekend. Lovely cosy hotel with friendly helpful staff and absolutely fabulous food. Excellent value for money. We will be returning and recommending Yarn Market Hotel to all our friends and walking groups.

We visited as part of a walking group holiday and this hotel was an ideal venue - not too formal and well-suited to our needs. Accommodation was clean and comfortable and the quality and variety of food was excellent. As well as the well-prepared breakfasts and dinners, we had the option of purchasing packed lunches, which were ready and waiting for us each morning. No one minded a slightly chaotic (at times!) group of older people, complete with walking boots and poles, invading the property! But what really made this hotel a place to remember was the quality of the staff. Nothing was too much for them. When we had a small plumbing issue in our bathroom, that was dealt with swiftly and professionally. Above all, every single member of staff was helpful and friendly and very quickly built up relationships with their customers. We would give them 5 stars and more for their service. In fact, our group was so impressed by the hotel that we have rebooked for next year. Thank you, all the staff at the Yarn Market, for helping to make our holiday an enjoyable success!

We stayed at the Yarn Market hotel in Dunster for 6 nights while walking the nearby Coleridge Way that crosses the Quantock Hills and Exmoor. The location is a very historic village with a medieval castle and many original houses, beautifully preserved. The hotel itself is very homely, clean and comfortable – large rooms, good showers, and everything worked. There was always a choice of 4 dishes for each course of the dinner in the evening, which was good quality pub-style comfort food without being too heavy or rich. For us we really enjoyed the fact that the owner and all the staff team were so welcoming and such a contrast from the anonymous hotels where you are simply a line on a spreadsheet – here the welcome was totally genuine and we felt that our holiday experience really mattered to them. All the staff team went out of their way to ask about our day and to be helpful by giving tips and local information. For local walks (including sections of the SW Coastal Path & the Coleridge Way) the hotel is very well situated and the owner offers a service whereby he accompanies your car so you can leave it at the end point of the day’s walk, then takes you on to your start point. This is ideal so you don’t have to unpack / repack to move on each day, and you can take your time exploring the locations as fully as you wish. During these transfers he kindly added in extra visits en-route to places we would not have visited on the walks themselves. All in all this was a great holiday with walks through stunning Somerset and Devon villages, made special by the care and hospitality of the hotel.
