On the day of check-in, we had to go to Yulin Grottoes early in the morning, so we checked in at the hotel and sent our luggage to the room. When we returned to the room at night, the hotel gave us a big surprise. My brother's birthday was so tired that the whole family forgot it. When we came back, we found a cake and a greeting card, which surprised us.
We stayed in Building 2. The room of this hotel was also beyond our expectations. The room was spacious, the bed was big, it was quiet, and there was a large French window. We could see the sunrise every day. It might be because we checked in during the off-season. The breakfast was not crowded at all. The hotel has a shuttle bus. It is only 1 km away from Mogao Grottoes and Dunhuang. You can walk there. It is really convenient. It is also about 5 km away from the airport. This is the most satisfactory hotel I have stayed in Gansu, no one else.

Located just outside of town, this hotel has a large range of rooms from standard to suites and villas.A little inconvenient for travelers interested in spending most of their time in downtown Dunhuang, the hotel does have plenty of amenities and entertainment rooms to keep their guests entertained. There is a shuttle bus that runs to and from town.

Highly recommended to everyone. We traveled to Dun Huang in early May (2024), and we feel grateful for all the kindness we got here. The hotel is very clean, and the service is super accommodating. They provide free pick-up from airport (or train station), so all you need is to call them one day ahead (the receptionist can speak English if you don't speak Chinese). Everyone will smile at you and ask what they can help you when we stay there. The location is brilliant too. It is like 1000 meters away from Ming Sha mountain, and you can actually see the sand mountain when you have breakfast at the hotel (it is free too). We will definitely stay here again when we visit Dun Huang next time.

This is the most satisfying hotel on this trip. When we checked in, the front desk arranged red date ginger tea, which was very delicious. They also upgraded our room type. Thank you very much. The weather in the northwest is very dry, and the room is equipped with a humidifier, which can be very relieved. The bedding and bathroom show that Marriott's quality control is still very strict. My mother said that the mattress is very suitable for her. The breakfast is also a combination of Chinese and Western, which is very suitable for us Shanghai people.

We arrived in Dunhuang at night, and the pick-up service arranged by the hotel was very heartwarming. The room is spacious, clean and comfortable. You can see the beautiful scenery of Mingsha Mountain in the distance outside the window. The front desk service is warm and thoughtful, making you feel like spring breeze. The hotel breakfast is delicious. The restaurant is on the 9th floor and has a large viewing platform where you can enjoy the beautiful Dunhuang. The lobby on the first floor of the hotel also provides yogurt, mineral water and seasonal fruits. The hotel's service details are very attentive. The Dunhuang landmark Rebounding Pipa is right in front of the hotel. It is very close to the Dunhuang Shazhou Night Market. It is only a 5-minute walk away. It is convenient for eating and transportation. You can take the No. 3 bus at the door directly to Mingsha Mountain, and there are direct buses to the Mogao Grottoes. I had a comfortable stay and had a lot of fun during my trip to Dunhuang. I hope to come again if I have the opportunity.

The bed and pillows were surprisingly comfortable, much more comfortable than Westin's Heavenly King Koil and I don't know how many times more comfortable than Beaute's. When I asked where the bedding was bought when I left, the hotel replied that the boss ordered it from abroad. Moreover, when we found that the two rooms in the suite we booked had no doors that could be closed and wanted to discuss changing rooms, the clerk directly sent us another one... I really recommend it. It's a very down-to-earth hotel. I really recommend it for travel!

Very affordable and great value for money with all the helpful front staff to housekeeping.
Just around the corner is the street food with lots of restaurants n the Shahzhou nite Market is just 15 minutes walk away.
I highly recommend anyone wishing to come to Dunhuang seeking reasonable and quality accommodation to stay here.

The service was exceedingly good at ZhongZhou hotel. I stayed with my wife and had a second room for my daughter and son in law.
The lobby always had someone to open doors/press the elevator button for guests. What really stood out to me was the attitude of the workers. Breakfast typically starts at 7, when I mentioned I had to leave at 6:15, the worker at the restaurant told me to come early, and she would have it ready for me. Unfortunately no fitness center but the laundry room was a plus. There were also plenty of washing machines (no dryers).
This hotel truly felt like a second home. The rooms and beds were also comfortable and clean. A fantastic stay overall, would definitely stay here again.

I have travelled a lot in China the last 5 years.
This is probably one of the best hotels I have been.
Clean, comfortable, close to everything, very nice staff. Have everything you need in the room. They leave you presents in the room, have all the free drinking water you need, free apples, just excellent welcome feeling.
They go as far as pointing the shower head to the side everytime they clean the room so you don't get wet when you turn on the shower. More expensive and luxurios hotels have a lot to learn from these guys. Just excellent.

GGuest UserThe location of our accommodation is about nine kilometers away from Mingsha Mountain Scenic Area. We drove there in about ten minutes. We have always been looking forward to the starry sky in the northwest, so we found this starry sky-themed B&B and communicated with it first. The store owner is very good at taking starry sky photos. Sure enough, We were not disappointed. The B&B is located at the foot of Mingsha Mountain. There is very little light pollution and the starry sky photos taken are very beautiful.
The room facilities are also very complete. The air conditioner was turned on half an hour in advance. It was already very cool when we checked in in the afternoon. I would like to give a thumbs up to the housekeeper on the day of check-in. He not only helped us take pictures of the stars, but also shared with us how to take pictures of the stars and adjust the parameters of the mobile phone. It was really useful for a long time.

22morrowsworldVisited Dunhuang on several occasions before but Bowen Hotel is the best considering its rating and price. It's a 4 star and only 150 CNY per night. For this you get a well appointed comfortable room with a view of the river. The rooms are well set out with plenty of space, power points and light switches where they are needed, and a stable reliable and secure wifi signal. The Hotel is situated about 300m east of Dunhuang museum. So, still within walking distance of night market main street, bars, memory box cafe, bus no.3 to Mingsha etc
The bathroom is good quality with a glass enclosure for the shower unit, which has lots of space. The hot water system is responsive and strong, over 24 hours (-10°C outside). Good quality towels and a floor mat are provided and replaced each day by the effecient room service staff.who keep rooms spotlessly clean. The queen sized bed is super comfortable- not too soft or too hard. The double boutique room also has a coffee table, sofa and matching foot rest.
I especially appreciated the gym on floor 7. Limited but useful equipment (treadmill, weights). Another useful feature is a laundry service - also on floor 7. I was fortunate enough to interact with the hotel manager, (who communicates in English very well) and she arranged a taxi late at night to Liuyuan. Overall a pleasant hotel experience in a great oasis town. Will definitely stay again and recommend.

SSaharathThe hotel location is good, right in the city center. The exterior may look like an ordinary modern Chinese hotel but the guest room interior is quite nice. Modern with lots of electrical outlets.
The breakfast is simple but tastes really good. The best for this China trip for me.
The hotel also has a free pickup and dropoff service from/to Dunhuang Airport and Dunhuang Railway Station.
One of a few drawbacks for me is the shower room design. I mean construction wise, not decoration wise. Even though there is a circumference groove on the shower room floor to drain water, the swinging glass shower door leaves space at the bottom, causing water to spill outside and pool on the floor. The floor is marbled so it could be slippery.
Another is that even though I had the hotel's WeChat account and had tried to contact them, as I thought I would be able to use the translation function on the app, I was not able to reach anyone or get any response.

HHeong Siew YinLocation is very ideal, along a pleasant Main Street, around 5 to 8 mins walk to night market, yet away from the rowdiness of tourists. Just opposite there are convenience shops, a western bakery (Angelia) and stretch of small restaurants in an alley which are of good quality.
Front desk services are fantastic especially helpful for foreigners ( though they don’t speak English- try to use e-translator), regarding local attractions and getting a cab for you if encounter difficulties. They are genuinely helpful to try to overcome your difficulties. Special mention on Ya Jin who even asked her regular taxi driver to accompany us to buy the Mogao Grottoes tickets and arranged for a long distance taxi trip to Liuyuan South Railway station. Wang Na also offered her WeChat contact number if we have difficulties coming back at night. Really warm hospitality.
Even the hotel driver who fetched us from the airport was nice(complimentary service). The housekeepers are too hardworking.
Only complain I have is the breakfast which served exactly the same thing every morning and of limited choices. Thus Angelia bakery just opposite was really a good alternative.

Very warming for a small outfit.
Service attitude is what made me extend my second night here.
Breakfast though good gets cold quickly. They should use food warmers. Mostly vegetarian options other than hard boiled eggs.

GGuoweiyuThere are few people in the off-season, and the boss came out to pick us up when we arrived. The hotel seems to have no heating, and the boss turned on the air conditioner to warm the room for us in advance. There is an electric blanket on the bed, so it doesn't feel cold at night.
The only drawback is that the water is not very hot at night, and the pillow seems a little dirty.

BBarryThe hostel is just down the canal a little from the centre of the city, an easy walk. The bus to and from the railway station is less than 500 metres away (ignore what Google maps tells you, they'll take you to a toilet in the wrong direction, use the Trip.com map, and click through to Google maps to get it right). Go a couple of km the other way and you're at the Dunhuang Museum. There is plenty of space downstairs to hang out, they sell a few cold drinks, and might even make coffee - they have the equipment). The rooms are on the second and third floor, no elevator. My room, #304, was quite rustic and not very big, but had a small table and adequate bed. The shower was just far enough away from the toilet that the floor there stayed sort of dry. Air con did struggle a bit with the 40 degree heat.

GGuest UserFrom the exterior the Dunhuang Jiayuan Hotel looks like a traditional Chinese hotel. But the room is furnished with all the modern trappings that are so essential to a weary traveler. The bedroom and attached bathroom are very clean, hot showers readily available and the bed comfortable.
The hotel is right next to the Shazhou night market and within walking distance to all the transportation hubs which makes visiting Dunhuang attractions easy.
And the service team was fantastic. One and all they were approachable and very helpful. The lovely lady who checked us in not only upgraded our room but she even managed to get us seats on a Western Dunhuang tour which was one of the highlights of our already amazing trip!
Another recommended local dishes for us to try and we were amused to see the name of one such restaurant on a road sign!
In short we love Dunhuang Jiayuan Hotel. Thank you lovely ladies for making our stay there a very satisfying one 👍

EemdethuongThis hotel accepts foreigners. Location is not far from Dunhuang night market. Reception is nice and welcoming although they did not speak english. Translation app will do just fine. 100rmb deposit at check-in and they will give you back at check-out if everything is fine. Room is small, quite old and basic. Smoking is allowed inside hotel floors so it felt really suffocationg. The faucet in the bathroom did not give hot water, only the shower did. The only thing I don’t like is the AC (also heater) emitted kind of a burning smell which made the room suffocated. I turned on for a while and turned off in order to sleep safely.
