Only castle in NZ, but it’s under maintenance.

The room is not small, but the ventilation is not very good. The shared toilet and bathroom are not very convenient. The wooden floor and door are a bit scary at night. There are no other restaurants around except the castle. Dinner at the hotel needs to be booked before 5 pm, 95 NZD per person.

The castle is very big and you can see the sea. It is a very good experience. You can choose your own buffet breakfast. I recommend the Lanark breakfast. Guests staying in the hotel can participate in the castle dinner. It is also great value for money. I will go there again if I have the chance.

The so-called living in a castle is actually a room converted from a stable. The room is very small and the shapes inside the room are also different, so it is easy to hit your head. But apart from the above objective conditions, I think all the aspects are good. The breakfast is very good. You eat on the first floor of the stable. The coffee is amazing. The water and milk in the small refrigerator upstairs are very good. The waiter is very responsible for introducing each family and taking them to check in. The so-called castle is a relatively large house, not even as big as some old houses of Fujian people. It cannot be considered as a castle. The garden... well... is not as flowery as the Imperial Garden of the Forbidden City. The plants are mainly succulents. It is not necessary to expect to see flowers, but it is also a feature. The most recommended is dinner. You can make an appointment for dinner when staying here. It is a rare highlight of the food in this New Zealand trip. There are only four dishes, which are exquisite and attentive, and taste good. If you don't mind sharing the hall with strangers, you can experience the long table dinner and have a drink and chat with the neighbors who live in the stable that night. The English spoken in one night is almost the sum of the past two years. It is very relaxing and happy.

Staying here to experience the castle, you can also visit the castle for free. The breakfast is also very rich. But because it is on the mountain, there is nothing to eat around. The road up the mountain is not easy to drive at night.

It seems to be 90 New Zealand dollars per person. The stable room where I live is in the attic on the second floor. There is enough space to store two boxes. Breakfast is very good. It is English breakfast with buffet + set menu. We didn’t finish the meal, so we took it away and went to Sandfly Bay for Chinese food. Get up early and visit the gardens and castle. Staying here is equivalent to visiting the castle for free. It smells great.

The shared bathroom is not very convenient. Please learn about the horrible history of this castle before staying there. But it is actually a good experience.
