Logis Hotel Restaurant Auberge de La Sélune

We booked Logis Auberge de la Sélune, Ducey, based upon past experience, but were disappointed with our current stay - principally, because of the extremely limited, but hugely expensive menu. Of the 2 starter dishes, one was to neither of our liking so we opted for the Ancient Tomato and goats cheese salad. My wife is allergic to goats cheese and asked, because of this if there was an alternative cheese - but was told no, even though there was a plentiful supply of alternative cheeses on a trolley nearby, it was also stated that there would be no reduction of the 15euro price without the goats cheese. An extremely expensive sliced tomato salad! Again the main courses were very limited - I opted for the lamb dish and was told it comprised 3 types of lamb. I asked for "medium" cooked. It arrived rare and had to go back to the kitchen. The lamb comprised 3 extremely poor quality, small morcels of meat - costing 43 euros! My wife was even less fortunate in choosing what sounded delicious - entrecot steak in a port sauce. She asked for no blood. It was served as a couple of grey chunks of meat, which even with a steak knife, she was unable to cut. There was no sign of a port sauce, the dish was dry. She sent it back and although offered an alternative dish, the limited menu precluded this and we informed the restaurant manager that we did not expect to be charged for my wife's mail course, which we weren't. Our room at 93 euros was somewhat dated, but was clean and comfortable with an excellent bathroom. In the corridor leading to our room, curtains were hanging off their runner and overgrown plants trailed onto the carpet. It gemerally looked like it needed a bit of TLC. Unfortunately, based upon this experience, we will not be returning to this Logis Hotel.

The hotel is run by a husband and wife team who are very friendly and helpful, personally showing us to our garden room. The hotel is starting to show its age and is probably due for an update to its public areas, but our room, on the ground floor in a separate building in the lovely garden by the river, was very good albeit a bit on the small side (but aren't all French hotel rooms?). Other rooms are situated on the first floor of the main buildings (no lift/elevator). We had dinner in the hotel's restaurant and the food was excellent, especially the desert and reasonably priced. Limited car parking is available for for a small cost. Request a car par when booking.

Sandra and Patrice run a lovely hotel on the banks of the river Selune and are simply wonderful hosts, knowledgeable and helpful advice on places to see, routes to take and especially on food and wine in their hotel which is simply outstanding

The management are really attentive and welcoming. The quality of the food is superb. I don’t think we have enjoyed a meal more and we hope to return

My beautiful young bride and I stayed here for 2 nights. The setting alongside the Selune River is great and the Hotel Gardens provide beautiful seating/relaxing opportunities. The reception was warm, friendly and helpful. The team - Proprietors and Staff - were efficient and delightfully friendly. The breakfast offering is a very good and varied, it's a buffet with quality food, all served in a very pleasant dining room. We had dinner only one night (the restaurant was closed on Monday for staff break reasons). It was sensational! The dining room staff were friendly and attentive. A special mention must be made of the cheese trolley - the selection and quality of the cheese was amazing and all were meticulously introduced and described by the wonderful Proprietoress (also acting Gardener!). Our room was comfortable and well appointed. Good WiFi was available at no charge. On-site reserved parking can be pre-booked at a modest charge. I thoroughly recommend this establishment and would gladly return.
