"The pillowcases had stains. The rooms were otherwise clean, and the room smelt fresh. I was surprised that the room was not sprayed for mosquitoes especially after I saw one. The atmosphere was generally great, but the hotel could do better in making information available. The staff were courteous and helpful. Good location for access to airport."

"My next business trip brought me to Douala, Cameroon. My first time in the city so was not sure what to expect. Was booked in the Platinum Cocotiers. A relatively new hotel. Rooms are spacious and clean and have all the trappings to conduct your business effectively. WIFI connectivity is excellent, and staff are friendly and always ready to help. There are 2 restaurants in the Hotel. Restaurant on the first floor serves breakfast which is decent and is open from 6 to 10am. The other restaurant on the ground floor is open for lunch and dinner. The restaurant has a limited menu but food served is fresh and good. Alcoholic drinks are also available. Being a small hotel during my stay there were not too many guests hence occupancy was low and at times seemed like I was the only guest in the hotel. Bed and Pillows are comfortable ensuring a good night's sleep. The hotel is close to Douala Port and my room provided a good view of the harbor from the balcony. My stay nevertheless was comfortable, and I enjoyed the peace and serenity the low occupancy provided."

"I'm not aware of any other hotel chains with a presence in Douala besides Ibis where I stayed 2 nights. It was a bad experience before I even arrived. I e-mailed them to arrange the complimentary airport transfer and was met with radio silence. It was only after I reached out to Accor Customer Service and much follow-up that Ibis Douala finally responded to me. (Kudos to Accor Customer Service!) After I got to my room, I noticed a pesticide smell but I put it off as something that would go away but it didn't and was affecting my sleep so I went to reception to enquire about the odour at which point the attendant referred me to a piece of paper on the bench which mentioned that the hotel was undergoing hygiene treatment on the 2 days I was there - this was the first time I was shown this notice! They changed my room to another one - on the same floor - because the air con in my initial room couldn't be turned off, but the smell of pesticide remained but they said it was the same throughout the hotel. Luckily, the odour was less pungent on my second night - which makes me wonder why they couldn't have either 1. scheduled the treatment outside of the Christmas busy period or 2. timed the treatment so that certain floors were treated on the first day and the remaining floors the next day so that guests can stay on floors less affected by the odour - which may be harmful to one's health! The hotel room was tired and dated with dull green coloured tiles on the bathroom floor. Also, the hot water tap needs to be turned on for at least 10 minutes before there is any hot water. There was no variety to the buffet breakfast - it was the same everyday. On the plus side, the hotel is within 20 minutes walk of 2 supermarkets."

"Not GOOD AT ALL. Regrettable stay, high price for unruly furniture and spacing. I will not recommend any one to this hotel. The gym in a small old hotel room with only 3 dis functional equipment, the pool area looking so abandoned ! Dark corridors and broken doors. Poor WiFi circulation etc. Even driving into hotel front facing will let you destroy your car. ONLY thing good is the break fast… the rest is just a financial scam."

"Clean: top; Food: right; Breakfast: can better do (a effort on the winehouses, too hard) Hotel well maintained, professional and very friendly staff (which is really a + when you find that in Douala a simple hello or a smile gives the impression that you offend the person who receives it ... some will understand me. The big bemol of this hotel for me was the lack of sound insulation (telephone and sounds of the neighbouring rooms, noise in the corridors, claquement des portes) of my room I heard everything that happened outside but I fear nothing The hotel is a very good place to stay in the hotel and then we can find a good way to stay in the hotel. The staff were very helpful to find the room in the morning, despite the day and evening, and the same smell was there. The last bad point is the unstable internet connection. It was just to see whatsapp messages or even emails. The hotel is a very good hotel for you, but it is a good hotel for you. PS : SVP try to revise the noise of the canalisations, from the room I'occupied on the first floor I've had the right to all the noises of flow of waters of sanitations of the other floors. The hotel is a beautiful location, but the problem of sound insulation is not a good place to enjoy its stay."
