A slightly strange place and we enjoyed our time there very much. The multi-level bedroom and bathroom was slightly odd; the quirky electrical supply was a constant mystery; and the cushioned day-beds in a cubby hole (in addition to the main bed) was a charming first for us. Large restaurant with coloured windows which looks lovely when the light streams in.

Maharajah palace turned into an incredible hotel in Rajasthan, India. Built in the 17th century and full of charm and uniqueness. Each room decor is unique as are the bathrooms and courtyards. Old school elevators work well. There is a large swimming pool and surrounding deck. Rooftop dining is quite an experience you have to experience. A photographer's dream.

One of the most amazing hotels I've ever stayed in. Old Maharaja palace with rooms which are huge. Fantastic food and and very friendly staff. Definitely recommend this hotel. In Luni village. A superb stay. They held a rajasthan dance and music evening which was great.

We had been allocated a deluxe suite which was very spacious consisting of 4 rooms plus a semi outside terrace with a hot tub, though we didn't use this. The decoration was amazing with 18th century frescos and inlaid mirror and tile designs. There was even a hidden stairway leading off one of the rooms. The slight disadvantage was that the doors were low so we had to remember to duck. This is very much an original 18th century building so don't expect modern style rooms but we did have air con and ceiling fans. A real positive is that you can spend hours exploring or getting lost in the maze of passageways, narrow stair cases and roof terraces. The view from the roof is stunning and a great place to watch sunsets. To help you explore the property there is a very interesting audio tour by William Dalrymple. The key shaped pool was lovely to cool off in after a day's sight seeing. Breakfasts were good and taken inside but evenings meals were served on one of the multiple roof top terraces with a choice of either buffet or al a carte. The buffet food was good especially the Indian breads which were made over a log fire by two ladies. The staff on front desk were exceptionally helpful and pleasant. All in all it was our favourite hotel during our 18 day tour of Rajasthan and the Golden Triangle. Another plus was the freedom to explore the village and lake area without hassle and all the locals seemed very friendly.

What a stunning hotel Deogarh Mahal is both outside and in the rooms. We received a very warm welcome from friendly staff. We were upgraded to a royal suite, which was lovely. While the food menu wasn't vast, it was very nice. The hotel is very close to the market streets, which are interesting.

It is a great old mahal/haveli. Vikram at the reception made us feel very welcome. The pool is great under the structure. It is in a very nice village with narrow roads (do not drive there in a large car!) and a rustic environment. I recommend it. They went out of their way to give us a variety of things for breakfast. The reception helped in parking and cleaned the car in the morning. Tiny things they could improve: Wifi and the lighting at the dining room at night - it is too bright! They could make it more romantic by turning off some lights.. The management can tell me to help them with this when I visit next!! :-) I am very surprised by the negative reviews of this place.

Deogarh Mahal is a 17th century palace lovingly preserved by the erstwhile royal family of Deogarh. We had a truly authentic experience of living in a real palace with superb hospitality and service. The food is absolutely delicious especially the local Mewari cuisine. Our room was really spacious with a separate sitting area and a huge bathroom. The Sheesh Mahal (palace of mirrors) on the top floor which used to be the personal living area of the Raja of Deogarh is beautifully preserved and a treat to visit. The hotel organized a sunset tea on the lake on a private speed boat which is the most gorgeous sunset I have ever seen. On the second day we were taken on a safari picnic into the Kumbalgarh forest. You must also not miss the train ride through the forest orgainized by the hotel … do check the dates since the train ride is only three days of the week. Deogarh Mahal is truly a hidden gem and we will definitely come back again…

On our driving adventure we dropped in for a quick meal to rejuvenate ourselves. What a pleasant experience it was. The old Palace has been resorted with a lot of live and dedication. The team was very helpful and showed us around the whole Palace while our order was being prepared in the kitchen. The food was perfectly made with authentic Rajasthani style. Service was genuine true to the local culture. It's a must visit if you are in this area.

Dilapidated old hotel. I am sure the website video was made 25 years ago. Our room was dark dingy and the pigeons were roosting right outside. Pool old and dirty, lots of steps which would make it very difficult for anyone disabled. Food was very ordinary and served buffet style - but with lots of slops! Only indian food available. Limited alcohol available. Not possible to lock our room once we were inside. Would not go back. The nearby Dev Shree Hotel looked a much better option and right on the lake.The others all did the afternoon safari and enjoyed it.
