The Hideout

Aneka was an excellent host!!! She was very very communicative and helpful. She told us where to find the best gas, where to get good food, and even put out some lawn chairs for us to use when we are out enjoying the parks. The place is very cute. Looks wise, we loved the space. Cute space with a cozy couch, cute little kitchen and lots of fun decor. It’s a one bedroom but has plenty of room for three people and even more if you wanted. Theres so much charm, it’s a great spot. Not to mention the amazing barn life!!! We loved the chickens and ducks, what a wonderful experience to hear those roosters in the morning! Made me smile. The issue we ran into was the smell of mildew, that seemed to get worse throughout our stay, as it got warmer with the heater on, or when we used the shower. It was noticeable all the time, but even more so when we would go in and out of the house. We needed to leave windows open all of the time because of this. I would consider the smell of mildew a really big issue for our stay. I think that with a good deep cleaning of carpets and interior that it might be able to help, as the couch blanket also had a smell. We also wish there was a fire pit, as the house amenities state. There is a small chimenia type thing, but it isn’t usable as a fire pit by any means. So that was a bummer. We really did love the place, location, the host was incredible, the chickens, it was lovely. The smell was the only problem, although it was a significant one.

We had everything we needed and thoroughly enjoyed having a comfortable and private place to return to each evening after exploring the area.Our host was super friendly and welcoming on day 1 and was available in case we needed anything. (but we didn't) because everything was in good working order.I especially loved the yard with gorgeous flowers, chickens, ducks, and banana slugs!

Quiet rural retreat On a celebratory July 4th, we had peace and quiet away from all the noise in Crescent City. We watched what fireworks we wanted to see from a scenic overlook nearby with about 15 locals, and are thankful our hostess suggested the perfect location. It's not the most modern facility, but it's clean, secure, and comfortable. Be sure to coordinate your expected arrival time so that the gate is opened for you. After you arrive, you'll have an opener so you can come and go as you please.

Fun experience for something different. Location is super close to Jedediah Smith State park. We loved the farm fresh eggs left in the fridge for us.

The place is fun, cute, private, close to the Redwoods. Bed was comfortable. Loved the owner's creatures that have the run of the place (cats, ducks, chickens) and enjoyed the chicken eggs. Gracious host, very available.

Redwoods Stop We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hideout. Aneka was the most hospitable and our hike on the Boy Scout Trail in the Jedediah Redwoods was great. The coast was amazing and not a far drive at all. If we are ever in the area again, we would definitely book again.
