Hotel Ardent Dayton Downtown, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

The hotel itself is a disaster, but the staff are exemplary. As we walked to our room, the halls looked like something you'd see in a dilapidated building. When we arrived in our very small (but not inexpensive room), the air conditioner was on full blast--and I mean that literally. It sounded like a 747 was trying to land on our bed. Despite the effort, the temperature in the room was still a very warm 74 degrees. We, then, tried the faucet--only a trickle of water. They immediately sent a very nice young man, Peyton, who tried to help. We called the front desk and they agreed to our checking out without penalty. So, at 5:30pm, after a long flight, we were left homeless. As to the price, our reservation, which was made some time before, was almost a $100 a night higher than the rate posted on the Hilton website. Also, there's really no place within walking distance to eat. So, except for the great people at Hotel Ardent there is no reason to stay there and many reasons not to.

While the hotel itself has so much potential with its lovely space and seemingly great staff, my stay was unfortunately defined by a single, critical flaw that made the room uninhabitable. The HVAC system was not just loud; it was an overwhelming and constant mechanical roar that completely dominated the atmosphere. The intrusive noise made it impossible to relax, let alone get the restful night's sleep that is the primary purpose of a hotel stay. When I approached the front desk for assistance, they were polite and took my phone number, promising a follow-up call to see what could be done. Unfortunately, that call never came, leaving me feeling ignored and unheard. My concerns were later validated when I spoke with a maintenance person who candidly admitted that these loud HVAC units are a known, hotel-wide issue and a major source of guest complaints. What is most disappointing is the complete lack of acknowledgment from management. An apology for the severe disruption, or even a small gesture like offering a couple of complimentary water bottles, would have shown that our comfort mattered. For such a significant, known problem to be met with institutional silence is simply unacceptable. As a long-time Hilton Honors member, I have come to expect a far higher standard of care and proactivity. I am genuinely concerned for future guests who will be unable to find peace in their rooms.

I recently stayed at this hotel for a business trip. While the hotel was nice and the staff were friendly, nothing could compensate for the extremely loud air conditioning unit. I think it's kind that they provide earplugs for the guests in the room. I always travel with earplugs as a staple in my travel bag, ensuring I can get a good night's sleep. However, there was nothing that could drown out the loud AC unit. There is no watching TV in the room, taking a call, or getting a good night's sleep without turning the unit off. I had to decide whether to be hot or quiet. I want to add that it's not just my room, because my colleagues have had the same issue. After a few nights, we were all exhausted from not getting any sleep. The hotel's coffee was hot and strong, and that was helpful. This is a solid hotel if you are a heavy sleeper or if you enjoy the sound of loud white noise to help you sleep. The hotel was clean, although I thought the baseboards in my room had been overlooked for a while and could use a good cleaning.

I went to Bistecca and the food was amazing! Service was very attentive and the Manager Ishmael was a pleasure to talk to and came and checked on us periodically throughout our meal.! This is for sure my new go to place, if you’re in the Dayton area check it out!

Im not one to complain, but as a Hilton diamond member, I am disappointed. First, the hvac system is loud! I’ve worked in industrial settings that are quieter. The hotel did provide ear plugs with a note saying it’s for the downtown city noise. Wrong - if for the wind tunnel that they call a hvac system. Second - the hvac system was awful. I like a cool room. Whether it was a terrible hvac system or poor insulation, it could not cool the room below 73F until after midnight, once the outside temperatures dropped. Third - somehow the front desk called me at 5 pm regarding a noise complaint. I couldn’t event head myself think due to the hvac system while I was at the desk working emails. Fourth - I had to wait 25 minutes for my valeted car one morning and the front desk wasn’t helpful, other than telling me it will be a few minutes. I’ll stay in a la Quinta inn before staying at this hotel again.

I was here for work. The first room I was given was hot and no chance of cooling down. I got another room, cooler, but the A/C stays on the whole time and it is SO VERY LOUD!!! Only way to hear TV is to turn it off!! The area is not very safe and very few food options. Food at hotel is very pricey! Decor in room is nice, but noice of A/C is unacceptable!!
