GGuest UserThe most surprising thing about this trip was choosing this B&B! The boss is very enthusiastic. He took the initiative to contact us before check-in and informed us of the route and surrounding tips in detail. When we arrived, he personally greeted us at the door, helped us carry our luggage upstairs, and introduced the local characteristics and hidden attractions along the way like a friend. The next morning, she personally cooked a hot breakfast for us and even planned our transportation. She truly met our every request!
The B&B environment is impeccable! The room is clean and tidy, the decoration style is warm and tasteful, and the bedding is so soft that it feels like sleeping on a cloud. The most surprising thing is the small garden in the yard, which is surrounded by green plants and has a swing chair. It is very healing to sit and watch the stars at night. The bathroom is fully equipped with supplies, even moisturizing body lotion is thoughtfully prepared, perfect details!
Living here is like living at home. I highly recommend it to friends who want to experience a human touch when traveling! I will definitely stay here next time~

GGuest UserI went to Datong to see Yungang Grottoes. I chose the Mercure Hotel at Datong South Station. It was very close to the high-speed rail station. At 10 o'clock in the evening, I went to the high-speed rail station very late. There was nothing to eat at the high-speed rail station. There were two knife noodles opposite the hotel to solve the dinner problem. The hotel service is very good. The facilities are new and very advanced. The accommodation experience is first-class, and the hotel chain is guaranteed ～

GGuest UserSuper fantastic accommodation. The hosts were very welcoming, friendly and accomodating. They would go the extra mile to make sure that there would be nothing left to desire. The location is in the old town in rebuilt old architectural buildings. The facilities of the hotel are top quality. We stayed in the Tatami room, which was very spacious and tastefully furnished. We could not wish for a better place to stay. Highly recommended.

GGuest UserI cannot rate Tangfang Courtyard more highly. I almost don't want to write a review and reveal it to more travellers! The photos are accurate of the elegant, beauty of this courtyard based hotel. The room was high ceilinged with wooden rafters, smart, elegant shower, bowls of fruit, spoiling bedding. It was bang in the centre of the old city, yet completely tranquil in a gorgeously authentic, but quiet street. We were greeted warmly and cosily by Yezi, who welcomed us with drinks and fruit, and really couldn't do enough for us. My son is fluent in Mandarin but I don't speak a word yet still, she was eager to help me make my dairy free coffee in the morning, quickly sorted us a great, appropriately priced driver and comfortable car to go to the hanging monastery and grottoes the next day. This is unique in that is in an authentic building, elegant, yet cosy family atmosphere with a kitchen/dining room where all guests eat round the same table. The last effort Yezi and her colleagues made was to source me some of the very striking vinegar jars unique to Datong at a moment's notice, the morning we were leaving. Bearing in the mind, this was done via Google Translate, I cannot thank you them all enough. They made our stay in Datong memorable, beyond the obvious wonders of the UNESCO sites. Thank you again to all at Tangfang Courtyard.

GGeorgeI was greeted with a fruit platter during check-in, which was a wonderful welcome gesture considering I left my home about 24 hours earlier, traveling non-stop from California to Datong, China. The Inn provides a wonderful experience for the first-time foreign visitor. The interior decor has that Chinese charm consisting of artwork, a book display, an aquarium with an auspicious collection of 8 large fishes (carp, I think), in-room tea set with an on-table electric stove, which would be unique to most Westerners. The glass flooring adds an extraordinary appeal since I have never experienced that in a hotel before, and I have traveled to dozens of countries.
The Inn is well located, a short bus ride to Datong Railway Station (for non-high-speed rail travel)*, and a short taxi ride to Datong South Railway Station (for high-speed rail travel)**. It is just next to Datong City Wall. You can walk along the top of the City Wall at no cost. A 10-20 minute walk takes you to nearly all the attractions within the ancient City Wall. Here you will also find a variety of restaurants serving local food as well as souvenir shops. There is also a small shop that sells sundry items including drinks (beer included) within a 5-minute walk from the Inn. Across from this sundry shop, is a shop that specializes in ancient Chinese clothing (Hanfu dress). They can dress you up, cosmetics included.
The Inn provides directions to Yujian Yun Gang - a popular destination for travelers to Datong. Here you will see ancient Buddhist cave art, including large and tall (several stories tall) sculptures. It takes two bus rides to get there, 1RMB per ride.
My booking choice was for either a guest room on the 1st or 2nd floor but was assigned a wonderful 2nd-floor guest room.
The owners of the Inn were exceptionally friendly. I met both the mother and her daughter. My room was professionally cleaned and provided with drinking bottled water daily.
If I return to Datong in the future, I will certainly book a room at this Inn.
*I took a train from this station to travel south to Xinzhou after checking out.

GGuest UserExcellent. Done in the traditional hotel style but with very modern in-room amenities. Bathroom is clean and private, with nice shower including good quality—free flow—shampoo and bodywash, clean toilet and a proper door (no glass bathrooms here!). It’s so hard to find a hotel room like this these days. Most importantly, all the staff were totally amazing, and the manager is so friendly and keen to help and can speak some English which makes things all the easier. There are quite a few shaokao and noodle places around the hotel, and importantly, the snowman drink place (蜜雪冰城) is not too far away! The hotel is just a couple of Ks south of the most popular entrance to the amazing ancient wall (大同古城), and in the other direction, about five hundred metres to another nice park called Mingtan Park where I flew my new drone for the first time ever while a local man practiced perfectly his Taoist meditation completely undeterred by the annoying whirring sound of the drone! My only regret is not planning more than a single night here. There’s so much more to Datong than just the Yungang Grottoes and the Hengshan Hanging Temple (though they are both totally spectacular!), so stay a couple of nights at least if you can.

GGuest UserI did enough research before coming here and saw this B&B. I called for consultation at nearly 10 o'clock in the evening and was extremely patient in explaining. After arriving, I was not disappointed. The two children loved it. The aunt would usually lock the door, so the children could Feel free to play in the yard. When we were about to arrive, we told the time. Auntie turned on the air conditioner in advance and prepared fruit tea, which was super heart-warming. Breakfast was also extremely rich every day, and it was very cozy for the whole family to sit in the yard and eat. This B&B is right next to the commercial street. You can go shopping when you go out, but you can't hear the noise when you are in the yard. It is very close to Zini and Longjutang. It can be reached in a few minutes on foot. At night, it is just a short walk away. You can go to the city wall, admire the lights, and ride a bicycle together as a family. Huayan Temple and Shanhua Temple are also nearby and can be reached on foot. Finally, I must say that the aunties at the B&B are all super nice. They are very nice and kind in both morning and evening shifts. I will definitely recommend this to my friends and will stay here again next time.

The hotel is located in the city center, and outside the window is a bustling street market with people coming and going. When you step into it, there is only silence in the room. The check-in process is easy and pleasant, and the smile of Wei Jianhua, the front desk staff, instantly dispels my travel fatigue. The hotel's facilities are also worthy of praise, from the exquisite and complete guest room supplies, to the heated swimming pool, to the gym equipped with equipment, every place shows quality, and the details are full of care. The welcome fruit, welcome card, and a pair of small fish prepared on the bed are simply too surprising, which exceeds my expectations. I am satisfied!
