I just arrived the Dar Es Salaam Serena Hotel after a 13 hour journey from Cairo via Muscat and Zanzibar on Oman Airlines. I needed to freshen up, have a few pops and then eat some food. They could not have been more welcoming of hospitable. John in the bar is a pro. If you’re thirsty order the Kilimnajaro Lager. It quenches the thirst and goes down easy for about three bucks a pop. If, like me, you were hungry and wanted some comfort food, which for me is Indo-Pak cuisine, I can tell you the chicken tikka masala is both delicious and ample. Comes with rice and chippati (they call it chippat) bread. I asked for extra chilis on the side and they were “kick ass.” Not for the faint of heart, but if you want to kick up “mildly spiced” out of white bourbon realm of heat, they do the trick. Six stars out of five or a hundred and one of a hundred. Extra credit for sure. Already loving Tanzania and the Dar Es Salaam Serena Hotel. John the bartender is an Ace!
