Sandals Royal Curacao

Airport arrival- easiest shuttle experience. Organized with no hassles. Check in- not bad- pretty easy Room- very nice, clean except the tub on the patio was broken even after 2 attempts to have them fix. The swim up was very nice. The housekeepers are on top of it I must say! Food- unable to get reservations after many attempts very disappointing. Tried Strands 2x. 1st time I was really sick after. I chalked it to be my first night and all the anxiety with traveling. 2nd time the service was the worst we have ever had. We walked out. Let’s just say in the 8yrs my husband and I have been together we have never walked out of a restaurant until now. I believe the girl was Victoria not 100% sure but she was the worst. Pictures- 1st time someone came around at dinner and asked if we wanted a couple of shots done we said yes and his customer service lacked as well. 2nd time we had an actual appointment. We explained the issue we had prior and the lady gave us another photographer which I have to say was the best in all of our travels. I will share later. Entertainment- was not the greatest. I found it very boring. Also there wasn’t much of an explanation as to what to expect. For example it said white party but what exactly does that mean? Am I required to wear white? Maybe add a little paragraph of what the event is. One time it said carnival and again what does that mean? Am I going to see animals? Cotton candy? Funnel cake? I think adding a brief explanation would get more people to show up. Beach- very small but not bad. We rented a cabana for the day. Had a little mix up with where we were supposed to go went and sat at what we thought was cabana #6 but apparently that was for the butler service. Again maybe more of an explanation of where to go when making reservations. I do have to say once everything was figured out we ended up with Oshane helping us. He was the best. We actually rented 2 more days at the cabana only because he had the best service and made it fun for us. Room Service- Just don’t! Worst food ever! Let the phone ring for what seemed like 5 minutes. Asked for a simple grilled cheese sandwich and was told on a hamburger bun with chicken. Even after I explained what it was multiple times. I was having a blt on multigrain bread so obviously they had the bread all they had to do was slap a piece of cheese in it and grill each side for 20 seconds. I do get they can’t make whatever people want but that just seemed super simple. Aqua sports- We tried to rent a jet ski got transferred several times with no help or direction on who to talk to. Overall not bad. I would definitely recommend better organization for what people’s expectations are. Favorite people were OShane from the cabana, Celeste from Piedra and the last photographer we used sorry forgot his name. Will update once I receive it.

My husband and I recently visited Sandals Royal Curacao where we had a great time for the most part. Curacao was one of the most beautiful Islands we have been to and the resort was modern and clean. Before my review below, I need to mention an incident that happened on our last night that I think is important for people who are considering traveling to this property and / or have already booked a stay that is upcoming. There was an Entertainment Staff member named BREEZY who made our last night incredibly UNCOMFORTABLE and asked us for several drinks and even cash straight up. I reported this to management and advised them I would be writing a review specifically mentioning this incident as it was very concerning that he was not only asking us for this but we spoke to several other couples who mentioned that they had been asked the same thing. I know some people may be thinking “what is $20/$30 dollars?” - which is the amount he mentioned during the ask - as someone from NYC I can assure you that not even a homeless person on the street would have the audacity to ask for $20 and they are homeless, not employees at a 5 star resort, but anyways, I digress. The issue I have and what I stressed to management is that he knew my Husband was drinking and in a vulnerable state when he approached him for the money. This feels really sleazy and shady for a number of reasons but I will list the main ones below. 1. BREEZY was seeing my husband drinking and waited until after they took ~3 shots together to ask him for money - The drink requests started at the show on the beach and continued up to the lobby bar when he saw us again - he continuously asked us to get him drinks from the bar while he was working and let me say this was already inappropriate and making us uncomfortable but my husband is a nice guy and did it 2. BREEZY had asked multiple men who were drunk at the bar for money and was very comfortable in doing what he was doing which tells me that this was not the first time and would not be the last time. Anyone who waits around the bar to try and take advantage of someone who is drinking is a PREDATOR. No other way to put it and this guy is a liability. Luckily I was not drinking and was able to get my husband away from him shortly after he told me that BREEZY asked him for cash. This left a bad taste in our mouth for the property which we had thoroughly enjoyed and been considering returning to up until this interaction. If this happens to anyone else, please say something! I feel frustrated that someone else did not report him before (or maybe they did and management did nothing) and that we had to have this unfortunate run in with sleazy BREEZY. To drive my issue home, as a female who works hard and wants to be able to relax and let loose on vacation, this was the first time I felt truly grossed out and unsafe at a Sandals property. The staff here was amazing and so helpful. The entertainment team was incredible!!!! Not to mention the delicious food, good drinks, and the best views in the Caribbean. Dennilee has the most amazing voice and the dancers put on the best show!

Breezy was amazing!! The entertainment team was amazing as well. I would recommend going to see the shows you will not regret it. Also the bartenders are amazing!!! Go see Alejandro he will make your drinks very good if you know what I mean. Jajajajajaja

This is our first stay in Curacao but our 5th Sandals resort. As always the staff here are truly wonderful - Everyone we came in contact with from the Gardner’s, the bar staff, room maid, restaurant waiting staff, reception and welcome team we’re always friendly, courteous and helpful. A trait we have become accustomed to while on a visit to Sandals. It nice to see some of the most senior Management also wandering around restaurants and poolside taking an interest in our experience. A particular shout out to the dive team who were highly professional, well organised, patient and good fun. In particular a huge shout out to Ridley, JJ, Joel and Suzette (who ruled with an iron fist keeping everyone safe and adhering to the rules!)… she also loves a Mango Smoothie if ever there’s one going free!!! Big well done and thank you to everyone for another truly wonderful Sandals experience. Now… if I may a few observations of feedback which hopefully you will find helpful. (1) Listen to your guests - we had 2 fabulous meals in Vincent and whilst we were fine with the temperature, almost all ladies around the restaurant wandered back to their rooms to get a coat or cardigan to sit in… it was way too cold to be enjoyable. Yet on our second night the same problem seemed unaddressed. (2) signpost the pizza take away in the italian…. It’s not easy to know where to order or collect until you’ve mastered at least one visit… make it easy with simple signage! (3) on the theme of simple signage, in the clubbsandals lounge everyone gets lost and has to be redirected out to the rest rooms…. A simple sign pointing people outdoors would Save the confusion and your team Having to redirect every cross legged guest! (4) on the theme of restrooms, again coming back to Vincent, to have to leave the restaurant, walk back through reception (in the rain if its raining) to have to find rest rooms for such a top class eatery is just bonkers! Surely there are restrooms in the (what appear to be unused) adjacent ball room areas wouldn’t be too complicated?! (5) where’s the pool tables??!!! First time in a sandals resort without one!! Anyway… hopefully seen as helpful rather than a criticism for what as a say was yet another amazing holiday and absolutely wonderful dining throughout. See you again at a sandals resort again soon!

We are currently at Sandals Curacao. We had made a special request for vegetarian meals given our dietary restrictions- and Chef Andre and the Zuka staff went above and beyond last night with an amazing dinner tailored to our diet !! Impressed !! Thank you !!
