Kempinski Hotel Adriatic Istria Croatia

We had a delightful stay at this Kempinski hotel. It was very quiet due to being Winter, however we needed downtime and rest after being 4 weeks into our 6-week trip from Australia. Great stay overall. The most disappointing part was the dinner in the restaurant but a great experience.

Unbelievably bad! Staid with family for 4 nights (and we staid before many times there - even in their villas) - Stay was horrible - massive service degradation during our entire stay, so long waiting times for everything: check-in, check-out, breakfast, service at the bar / at the pool; hotel was packed with guests, but no employees to service them…. After a couple of days we already felt with the few employees there … Because service was so slow, people themselves queued directly up at the bar for their drinks and took them along … Breakfast was a joke! Had even help ourself for tea - was not served by waiters; no fresh juices; entire buffet was lovelessly presented; just big junks / pots of everything to minimizw work for kitchen; just one plain yoghurt in big pot; when ordererd a poached egg: was served on some dry toast crumbles - no garnish, no side dish … and so on… So many dogs around! No muzzles, no leashes - watched several incidents where guest dogs were snapping for kids !!!! This is an absoulute no-go for a hotel like this! First night we did not receive a turn down service - I tried to contact via phone guest services, but no one picked up; I went down to reception, and the two cute ladies were just smiling at me, and one of them (the first one I asked) told she doesnt even know what a turn down serivce! I think she is in the right position :-( On Saturday there was a big party in one of the rooftop suites - it was tremendously load; at 10pm I aksed reception how long this will be going - told me , they dont know, after a while they told me "after checking with the departments" it will end at 11pm ( it ended 11:15pm) - in a good managed hotel, the guests will receive information/letter that this evening will be held an noisy party; This is worst kempinski we have ever staid - I wonder if there is management at all - at least it wasnt present at all Definitely dont stay there again After complaining directly at the hotel (during and after) our stay we just received a bla-bla-bla answer not worthy reading it - not even from GM

We are regular guests at this hotel for many years - weekends, long sommer vacation, winter time, new year... For example this weekend was our 4th visit to hotel this year. But ...unfortunately this time was there the worst experience ! Adriatic hotel in this days is simply not in Kempinski standards anymore, actually long way from that. Hotel have except nice building and sea more or less nothing else common with 5 star level. First big problem they are completely understaffed. If there is really problems as they told us with work permits from official Zagreb government whay owner - Belgrade private company - not decide to close temporarily other Kempinski hotel in Portorož ( or vice versa) and unite workers in one hotel. Because i our opinion in this conditions Adriatic should be closed. We dont find at Kempinski Adriatic for many last years that they have really professionall general manager. As see a lot of top senior managers in the past years resigned, leave the hotel last because of bad situation. So through our eyes last weekend at this hotel: - because of not enough staff you wait at beakfast for coffe and extra orders at least 15 - 20 minutes, some day we even dont get it, must order again - nobody clean plates from table - some new young waiters are very rude and unprofessional - start of sommer season, outside 30 degres and closed pool bar and also beach bar ! So you must walk alone from beach or pool to hotel bar for drink. Nobody clean glasses and food plates ( sea photo above) and they are not made of plastic suitable for safety reasons - near outdoor pool is rules information board ( sea photo above) but because there is no pool guy a lot od guests dont care - jumping, ball playing, underwater swiming etc . You cant normal swimm at that conditions. More jugle than serious 5 star hotel pool - similar situation when you seat at main bar ( outside or inside hotel). You wait long minutes to be served - if you want from room call Front desk more than 10 minutes - reception - again too few people at desk - no answer - and month ago, for example, we stay at hotel for New year, there was 60 % saunas not working and nobody really care Kempinski chain management know all this ? Whay no reaction ? We stay some days ago in Berchtesgaden Kempinski - comparing with Adriatic is not another hotel its another world - talking about 5 star standards. And - is there anybody thinking abot people, staff who is working at Hotel now ? - they will burn out! As guests normal we have no voice to owners decision, no voice to hotel managment decision but services at this time at Kempinski Adriatic Savudrija Croatia is far away from 5 stars and if they dont total change staff situatin ( and also some other things comparing with other Kempinski hotels) we will after 16 years concluded our Adriatic visiting and tell all our friends aroud Europe to do tha same. Pitty.

We stayed at the kempinski Adriatic in November. Not the high season but still a nice time to visit. Hotel is very luxurious but some maintenance work needed. For example one letter is missing of the Kempinski signage outside. Staff was very friendly and did a really good job. The room was really spacious and equipped with all modern comfort. The tv in the bathroom mirror was not working unfortunately. We had a room with sea view on the first floor unfortunately they did not turn off the music at the bar in the evening although the windows are not sound proof. Spa was very nice. Breakfast was also of very good quality and was very varied. Just some small enhancements needed to get a top rating

Amazing location (2nd time), Venue and surrounding beautiful, excellent facilities with large enjoyable Spa area. Bad communication with guests (management/reception) far from being acceptable! Unawareness of their own standards and how to treat guests, very sad!

Great place to stay. Loved the views, staff, room, location. When we were booking our holiday this year, we knew Kempinski is our choice number 1 and it never disappointed us. Whether we stayed in Kempinski in Slovakia, Germany, Budapest, Switzerland, Vienna, London the service is always outstanding and immaculate. The food in the restaurant was so delicious. Breakfast was very tasty with huge selection on the buffet, what was not on the buffet I could simply ask and was immediately brought to me, for example I like to eat an avocado with my breakfast and I got it right away. Little things make a huge difference, one of the waitress was so attentive, she brought some pencils and paper to draw for my little daughter. We very much appreciated it. In fact everyone from staff was very attentive and kind. We loved the cocktails at the bar and also by the pool and beach. I asked for Long Island Iced tea which was not on the menu by the beach, but the lady, sorry I forgot her name, she made it for me and it was just perfect. Special thank you to Alen from restaurant, he was so friendly and kind, made us feel welcomed. He asked if he can send us a milk for my daughter to the room what we highly appreciated, as our daughter loves to drink milk mornings and evenings before bed. Yulia who served us dinner was also very kind and easily approachable. Our housekeeping lady who cleaned room Thai, she cleaned our room spotlessly and I loved the fragrance of the cleaning product as soon as we entered the room. The sea was full of jelly fish, but we could swim next to them, they were harmless. We highly recommend Kempinski Istria for early summer holiday. We stayed at the beginning of June.
