Our stay here was superb and will be our go to place whenever we visit Cromwell again. Our hosts Noel & Gill couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. We had a 5 night stay at Rascal cottage and it was spotless and had all the conveniences of home. The quietness and beautiful garden surroundings add to the wonderful appeal of the place. Just be careful of the super friendly sheep if you walk out through the rear gate, they will approach you with great gusto and follow you everywhere. It was so nice to wake up and hear the occasional sheep bah in the morning on awakening, it made you feel like you were on a farm. We have travelled and stayed in many places the world over and burns cottage is in the top notch category. If you choose to stay here you will not be disappointed.

My wife and I recently visited the Burn Cottage Retreat for two nights. What a beautiful place to stay. Gill and Noel are wonderful hosts and very accommodating. We stayed in the Moonlight Cottage and it was so comfortable after a full day of excursions in and around Wanaka. My wife fell in love with the beautiful gardens around the property, and we even got to feed the sheep!!! The breakfast basket and the fresh baked cookies were perfect. Their recommendations for dinner were top notch, and only a short 5-10 minute drive from the resort. I would highly recommend booking the Burn Cottage Retreat for a few nights on your journeys. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Gill and Noel for a wonderful stay and continued success in running a top notch bed and breakfast.

Absolutely recommend. Facilities top notch, very clean, wonderful hosts. So private and the gardens make it special. Only few kms from the hustle and bustle of the height of summer tourism season but in a little world all of your own. Totally lives up to its name of a retreat.

This lovely cottage set in beautiful surroundings has everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Everything provided in the cottage is to a high standard. Gill and Noel are excellent hosts and go out of their way to make your stay memorable. We really appreciated the home baking and breakfast basket full of treats. It is the ultimate cottage in the country but very close to Cromwell. We enjoyed it so much we have booked a return visit.

This was our second visit to Burn Cottage Retreat and our first meeting with Noel and Gill. We had high expectations and were not disappointed! The property is very comfortable and beautifully maintained in wonderful peaceful gardens. The Welcome Basket was very much appreciated and full of goodies. Noel and Gill were delightful hosts and we wish them well in their continuing venture.

The Burn Cottage Retreat was simply a little piece of heaven and just what we needed after many days on the road. Noel snd Gill were wonderful hosts, and have an eye for detail that we, as seasoned travelers, appreciated. “Rascal Cottage” where we stayed was spotlessly clean, comfortable and well-appointed. Our cottage was nestled in a wonderful garden setting. Private and serene. Sitting on the shaded porch was sublime. Made even better by Gill’s delicious Breakfast Backet, stuffed with fresh local goodies. We shall cherish our memories there.

Awesome quite place to stay 5 minutes from Cromwell. Lovely units with home baking provided on arrival, lots of room, King bed, comfortable furniture etc. Nice decking outside with BQ. Great hosts, will certainly come back again.

I decided to test my sanity by turning a 50th birthday party into a surprise wedding and do all the organising. Retiring to the Moonlight cottage after such an exhausting, yet amazing day was Mastercard priceless. Even if you live in Cromwell, this is a magical place for a night away.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Burn Cottage Retreat before tackling the Dunstan Lake trail and a few day walks. the cottage was just perfect , very quiet yet close to Cromwell shops. Hosts Gill and Noel were very helpful with local knowledge and more like having good neighbor's to chat with. The cottage is set on a small farm with a picturesque garden and very friendly sheep! The walk up the up the hill behind the cottage was well worth the effort for the sunning view. Would recommend to anyone wanting time out in a lovely setting. Would definitely book again.
