Hôtel le Manoir de Mathan Crépon à la Campagne 5 mn d'Arromanches et 10 mn de Bayeux

I have just returned from a 4 day trip to Normandy, staying at Le Manoir de Mathan and taking breakfast and evening meal at La Ferme de la Ranconniere. The accommodation at La Ferme was fully booked when I tried to arrange a reservation on-line, so we were offered Le Manoir as an alternative. How glad I am that I accepted. The accommodation is in a wonderful building overlooking a beautiful courtyard. The whole place is French rustic. Old wooden beams and great furniture. It is as good as it looks on the website....maybe better. We elected for demi-pension which is was a good decision on two levels. Firstly, there didn't appear to be many other eating opportunities close by. Secondly, the food is brilliant! You can pig out on the 'Gourmet' or be stuffed on the 'terroir' menu. You would need to be something of a connoisseur to take full value from the 'gourmet' menu. Breakfast was taken at La Ferme or Le Manoir (if there were suuficient guests at the latter). Again, typical French with fruit, the world's best ever 'fromage frais', ham, cheese, bread, pastires. My God, the calories! Went straight to my hips! (That is an attempt at humour....I am a 50-plus year old male heterosexual....honest!!) So, if you want a base to visit the D-Day beaches, Bayeux and Caen, then this place comes highly recommended.

Our second visit in a year - we returned because the first stay was so enjoyable. Facilities excellent with sizeable rooms comfortably furnished. Everything spotless. Breakfast excellent with great coffee and a good selection of food. Close to a local restaurant where we enjoyed a good meal - the other evening, we ventured further afield. The grounds are extensive and are beautifully maintained - lovely to wander around. The owners Isabelle and Koen are friendly and very knowledgeable of the area Together with their assistant Celine, they made our stay truly enjoyable. We will see them again!

We’ve come to Crepon for years, but decided to try out Mathan this time, and were very pleased. Koen and Isabelle did a great job with this property, too, and our junior suite was very spacious, tastefully decorated, well-appointed and very comfortable. The bed was very comfortable with quality linens. The bath was large, spotless, with nice fixtures, a large towel warmer, and a good shower. The WC room even had its own sink! The breakfast buffet had a good array of offerings, and omelette offered, as well — which was quite good — service was friendly and gracious. We highly recommend.

Loved everything about this location. We stayed 5 nights and used the Manoir as our home base driving around Normandy. Our hosts Koen & Isabelle were wonderful. The suite with kitchen was perfect for our needs as we bought locally and prepared for ourselves. The kitchen is fully equipped! Our suite was on the 1st floor and a good size with a lovely back patio overlooking the gorgeous greenery and orchard. Quiet at night. I will definitely stay here when I come back to the area.

An older multi room Manor House tastefully renovated and maintained with all modern facilities and furnished in character with the age of the building. Room was comfortable, spacious and extremely clean. Buffet French breakfast included offered omelette, freshly made fruit salad, breads and pastries, cold meats and cheeses and more. Isabelle, the owner was helpful and friendly and even reserved a table for us at a nearby restaurant for our first evening. Compliments also to all the staff who were always cheerful and friendly at all times.

A beautiful hotel, we had wonderful room and the owner, Isabelle, couldn’t do enough for us. It’s a very interesting property and the owners have done a sympathetic renovation using the very best materials. If you ask to look at owners photo album you can see how the hotel was created and they are rightly proud of it. Not only is it the nicest place we have stayed in in France, it is great value for money - the breakfast does cost extra, but it is well worth it, with a really big choice and the owner makes the best omelettes and scrambled eggs totally fresh for you. We cannot wait to go back and stay longer - perhaps in the same suite, but using the additional kitchen.
