Castle Grove Country House Hotel

This country manor provides above and behind service (they even glued my hiking boots when the soles came off). Amazing food at the restaurant. Roomy rooms with lively amenities. I highly recommend this place for a special stay. Nice walk to the water from the manor. They even have three legged cat

A friend of ours organized a trip to the Donegal area and booked us at the Castle Grove, boy did we win the lottery! From the moment Caroline met us to the time we left our expectations were exceeded. Our room was very quiet, large with clawfoot tub and shower! The food was over the top, from breakfast (scrambled eggs with salmon was my favorite) to dinner were some of the best meals we have had in Ireland! Playing golf one day a local told me that was his favorite restaurant! And lastly, I can’t say enough good things about the staff, they all get a 10 out of 10! We will definitely be back!

What a wonderful magical experience. We were greeted at door by the lovely Irene who made us feel so welcome from time of our arrival. Our room oozed charm and elegance. The bed and linen were luxurious , our view spectacular. We ate in their elegant dining room and the meal and service were outstanding. Breakfast this morning was equally delicious. (Their granola is a must). We will definitely be back. So lovely to see a family business run so professionally. Thank you Irene Caroline Eoin Jackie and Emma for looking after us so well. A Fairytale Wedding at Castle Grove – Simply Unforgettable! We had the absolute pleasure of attending Thomas & Dearbhla’s wedding on April 11th, 2025, and it’s safe to say – it was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived at the stunning Castle Grove House in Donegal, we were swept away by its charm. The sun was shining down as the beautiful outdoor ceremony took place on the terrace – a picture-perfect setting that felt like something out of a dream. The food, wine, and beer throughout the day were Michelin star quality – every bite and sip was perfection. The attention to detail, the presentation, and the flavours were all top notch. A huge thank you to Eileen, Eoin, and Eirine for their warm hospitality and seamless service. You made the day run like clockwork, and your professionalism and kindness truly stood out. If you’re thinking of hosting a special event, Castle Grove House is your place. The historic elegance, lush gardens, and effortlessly sleek vibe make it an unforgettable venue. We honestly can’t wait to return and will be telling everyone about this hidden gem. You should be so proud of what you offer – thank you for an incredible day we’ll cherish forever!

The overall experience we had with our two night stay was delightful. You forget the idiosyncrasies which accompanied the room we had because the staff, owners of the hotel and other guests made our stay here truly unforgettable in a very good way. The food is out of this world, indeed they have many awards to prove this and they are well deserved. You feel at home in the many elegantly furnished rooms, you can sink into the many deep soft armchairs or enjoy a glass or two of wine on the patio whilst watching the sun go down and the cats playing or sunbathing. Or you can stroll down to the beach via the extensive gardens it is a true gem of a place.

You will travel a long way to see can you find a better location with such friendly staff who were so attentive to all our requests and needs. The food is excellent and fairly priced for what you get. to sit in the drawing room having pre dinner drinks and discussing the menu just makes it all so comfortable and relaxing, nothing is rushed. We ordered from the drawing room and when food was ready the waiter came took our drinks and got us seated on one of the lovely big tables with spotless white linen table coverings. The food arrived quickly and everything we had over our two nights here was just delicious and there was nothing we could complain about, it was perfect. There was always a staff member close by should we need anything and you could tell they loved working there as they spoke so proudly about everything and they went out of their way to make sure we loved it as much as them. After dinner we retired back to one of the drawing rooms to finish our drinks and just relax and savour the peacefulness and atmosphere. Our room was particularly big with 4 poster bed and lots of antique furniture in it giving a real old world feel to it but it was so comfortable you felt so relaxed and sorry you didn't book it for longer. There was a very comfortable sitting room off it also with a TV that never got turned on as reading, relaxing switching off were the only things one needed to do. The bathroom was gorgeous too, big stand alone bath and separate large shower with lovely towels and toiletries provided. Next morning breakfast was so relaxed and choices were excellent too. I don't know which was the stand out feature but when you get great location, friendly efficient staff along with amazing food you just know you will be returning on more than one occasion.
