Precise Resort El Rompido-The Hotel

Great golf break at El Rompido. 8 of us stayed and all had a great time. Played North and South courses twice and both in great condition, greens excellent and ran very true. One small issue would be cart paths were a bit bumpy but no detraction from golf. Clubhouse bar had a good selection of snacks and bar meals and usual alcohol selection, beer €7.00 a pint. Hotel rooms very clean and modern and beds comfy. But no tea/coffee facilities which was a bit of a surprise. For dinner we were given our own table which was nice. We were on the golfers all inclusive which started at 1700 and ran till midnight. Bottles of wine on each table and replenished quickly. Buffet was very good with good selections and separate grill area which on 2 of the 4 nights we were there served good steaks. One night we also very much enjoyed the large prawns😁. Breakfast buffet very good as well with all the normal items you’d expect. 3 bars including pool one which served standard selection of drinks. The Galea bar had a TV and we were there for the 2 champions league semis and it got crowded very quickly and was a bit of an issue to get served. Used the spa facilities once and pool, jacuzzi and sauna all good. I would say it is geared to golf groups but would think during summer there’s less of them. Walked into El Rompido one morning and that took 15 mins and was very pleasant. But did the free train too which was fine. No complaints at all and would return

Probably one of the worst hotels that I have experienced. We stayed in the apartments adjacent to the hotel. Our room was disgraceful to say the least, with mould on the walls and floor in the bathroom, and 2cm of water behind the toilet. We also experienced stains on the stored blankets. We opened the sofa bed only to find the blanket stained with human excrement. On reporting this to management we were informed that " no one ever uses the pull out sofa bed". There was vomit in the hallway close to the entrance to the restaurant, one evening, for quite sometime throughout dinner. All of these issues were brought to the attention of management. After numerous emails and phone calls it appears to have fallen on deaf ears . We are extremely disappointed with the response and attitude of the hotel management to date. We were on a semi all-inclusive deal however when the bar opened at 5pm we all found it very difficult to get a drink not to mention the fact that prior to 5pm all the pint glasses were removed from circulation to be replaced by half pint glasses. Bar staff were rude and unresponsive to requests for a drink.

The Hotel is good, staff attentive, food of a high standard. The golf element however left a lot to be desired. Rude course staff, uniformed changes to our golfing itinerary and the word NO never far from been spoken, and abruptly. We have used this resort in excess of 10 times in the past 15 years, always staying for 1 week on a semi all inclusive basis. Summary, hotel is good, golf organising and attitude of the majority of the golf club staff poor. Our groups requirements were clearly disregarded due to competition(s) that were book after our confirmation (we booked 11 months in advance). Unfortunately, the consensus of the group is to strike El Rompido form our list.

Great hotel, excellent food. Drinks at bit expensive! Two fantastic golf courses in near perfect condition, only drawback was pace of play very slow with no marshalling & pro shop were disinterested . Would recommend and will return as a group.

9 girls on first golf trip. 7 nights, 3 rounds of golf, half board. Excellent transfer from /to Faro (1hr 10). Buffet food was of good standard. Nice rooms though I paid for superior room which was not worth the additional supplement .(pool view only obvious difference) No tea/coffee in any room. 1 bottle of water on arrival only. Nice pool area-as per photos -water cold. Appreciated the free transport 'train ride (10mins) offered into the local village- nice cafes and several restaurants. Attractive Shops an added bonus (though not open every day during our stay ) People friendly. There was also a nice 25 min path walk into the village , between south course and nature reserve. Staff friendly . I am sure we will return but the 'superior rooms' need to offer more to justify the supplement.

Average in all aspect except the courses which were poor. The hotel was clean. Room was of good size but no tea coffee making facilities. Towels have seen much better days, plenty of toiletries but did not use them. Lid of the toilet was cracked. Flooring was rising in the room and in some corridors. My bed springs had gone and it felt like sleeping on a slope. Restaurant was very busy for dinner unless you went at second sitting 21:00 hrs. Staff were very good throughout the hotel. Drinks were very expensive €7 euros a large glass of beer and €14 for a short and mixer. There is a supermarket on site but a can of Coke Zero is €1.80. Water at the bar was €3 for a large bottle. Food was ok but not great. Breakfast was ok not great. Spa was good for a sports massage. Golf courses were simply not good enough in my opinion. Soaking wet from sprinklers overnight. Did not dry out until early afternoon. Greens were bobbly and patchy. Bunkers were dreadful. Many had no sand with weeds growing through what sand there was. Fairways were in poor condition with tree roots patches of gravel on the fringes. It was so bad that there were tufts of different types of grass in the fairway that we could pick clean and replace. Water features and ponds had puddles in the bottom and acres of pond liner in view. There was maintenance ongoing and tees being rebuilt and turfed. Cart paths torn up by machinery. Cart paths on the Norte were torn up or worn out tarmac with dangerous potholes where the path met the fairway. Temporary tees on the fairway in the Sud Course. Play was so slow. Our group let a pair through and we were told off by the marshal for doing so. Three rounds average 5.5 hours each using buggies. A Natural Waterside park abuts the course and there were quite a few mosquitoes! A buggy is essential, some long green to tees especially the 17th at the Sud. You could fly from Faro or Seville but there are many other places to go where the courses are much better.
