Crown Resorts Horizon Hotel

Upon arrival at the Cali Resort, we received a very warm welcome along with a complimentary drink. Check-in was quick and efficient, with our luggage taken directly to our room. As we arrived late in the evening, a light refreshment, sandwiches and drinks had been thoughtfully provided in the room. Our goal for this holiday was to enjoy a quiet and relaxing break, and the resort certainly delivered. The hotel is modern, well-maintained, and beautifully presented. The food was excellent, with two dining options available. The main buffet restaurant offered three meals a day, each with a different theme in the evening. One night, we chose to dine at the Japanese-themed à la carte restaurant, which featured an impressive 8-course tasting menu. In addition, snacks were available at set times from the pool bar. The overall selection of food was varied and of consistently high quality. The Cali is an adults-only hotel, and as we stayed in late April, it wasn’t very busy—something that contributed to the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The hotel was maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, and the pool area featured a generously sized outdoor pool with plenty of comfortable sun loungers. Its location was also ideal, with the beach, bars, and shops just a short walk away. Finally, a word on the staff, everyone we encountered was exceptionally friendly and attentive throughout our stay. Special thanks to Alona, our bar waitress most evenings, and Sherpa in the restaurant, both of whom made our experience even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend the Cali Resort and, in fact, have already booked to return in April 2026, a true endorsement, as we rarely visit the same hotel twice. From the time we arrived to the night we left we’ve had an amazing time at this hotel. All of the staff went out of their way to make our holiday special, with genuine smiles and kindness throughout. It seems that COVID has given a lot of places an excuse for poor service levels and unapproachable, inflexible staff, so many other hotels could learn a lesson from Cali. The food here is fabulous - when we saw a couple of reviews saying it wasn’t, we wondered if they’re talking about the same hotel and exactly what their expectations were. We like good food and can say without hesitation that the choice and the quality have both been fantastic throughout. Menus were changed daily, allowances made for those with any dietary requirements, the buffet options were always freshly prepared, in small portions and then topped up - again with freshly prepared food and the desserts were delicious. The pool area is great, spotlessly clean with really thick, comfortable sunbeds and the pool staff worked really hard to ensure we got anything we needed, often before we even realised we wanted it. The pool size was great. Although a bit colder (maybe this time of year?), it soon warmed up after a few lengths. The room was great with a good, firm bed and it was very special to be upgraded to a sea-view on arrival. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel. An all round relaxing 11 nights in a beautiful hotel. Staff - Hotel staff could not do more for us, and were extremely attentive and professional. Particular shout out goes to the two poolbar waiters who were exceptional and are a credit to the hotel! Food - absolutely incredible offering and probably the best all inclusive I have experienced. Especially the desserts!! The food choices were varied, quality and tasty! We stayed 11 nights and never got bored once. The snackbar at the pool also had a good menu included in the AI. Japanese fusion a la carte tasting menu was also very nice. Cleanliness - the place was spotlessly clean. Entertainment - is ok but is very “cheesy”. Would like to see some variety such as strings musicians or saxophonist more in keeping with the aesthetic of the hotel. Rooms - the night service with a change of towels and extra water and a chocolate was a nice touch. The rooms were really nice with a good selection in the mini bar and coffee tray. The bathroom in our particulae room could do with some attention to detail in the painting and finishing - but otherwise good. Overall an excellent time at the hotel and would highly recommend Cali resort! Thank you to the staff who made the experience they are a credit to the hotel.
