Southampton West

Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Entrance was via a pub’s carpark which was not signposted. The place was not great, quite shabby with a lingering mild smell in the stairwell. It did its job as a convenient overnighter but the price was quite high considering the place was in need of a refurbishment.

For the price of £100 a night the room was not up to standard. The head board was heavily stained and covered in dust. I went to retrieve the extra pillow from the shelf and it was caked in dust,i wasn’t sure if i should use it or take it to a museum to see how long it had been untouched. The same goes for the window sill and other ledges in the room. The paint was peeled and flakey in the bathroom, the shower was broken and spraying everywhere the silicone was mouldy and grubby. The bathroom in general didn’t feel clean and was in desperate need of some love in the form of an update, to top it off faeces stains in the toilet a gift from the previous guest. The carpets in the room were ripped and pulling away from multiple areas on the wall leaving areas of concrete floor exposed as well as the rest of what was left looking tired and grubby, it had a nostalgic feeling of being in a your local pub as a kid in the 2000s. Air con wasn’t working but they provided a fan to circulate the hot air thankfully. Walking down the dingy and musky smelling corridor is an experience,I didn’t know if I was going to my room or a jail cell. At least the bed was comfy and bedding clean 2/10 for this branch! After all that has been said I will continue to use premier inn as I’m usually satisfied with the service they provide.

Great family room, love the mosquito nets on the window and the fan in the room. Clean, tidy, good bedding, nice liquid soap and soft fluffy towels. Handy having a pub next door to have evening meals at, and breakfast when the on-site restaurant was unable to cope with more diners. Will definitely return to Southampton West as a base for holidays as it’s ideally located for the New Forest and the coast.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The beds are comfortable, the room was clean giving you all that is required for a good night’s sleep, breakfast is good with freshly cooked hot food. I would recommend a stay here. Very close to Paultons Park. A special mention about Garth who looked after us so well, Thank you!

If you get stuck with an upstairs room in the heat, don't think about getting any sleep. The rooms are very hot, the windows don't open properly and the fans are noisy. They appear to have downgraded their bathroom, so sitting on the toilet involves trying to avoid the toilet paper holder. On telling them we had to leave early as the heat in the room was unbearable, we got, "oh well".

Not the best premier Inn I've stayed at but is ok. Pros Free car parking Clean room / standard premier Inn room Quiet Cons Warm! There is no aircon and the thermostat that looks like it is aircon isn't. Staff I encountered are in no way friendly Requested ajoining rooms months in advance but someone messed up and the adjoining room was given away. Exterior and car park needs a lot of work Not related to the hotel but the Vine Inn nextdoor is handy to have onsite but the service was very slow and other than it is convenient I wouldn't bother.
