Gateway Coonoor

Our stay at the Gateway Coonoor was great. We enjoyed the hospitality of the staff and complimentary foot soaks provided to us in our rooms. Had some snacks kept at the room, been made complimentary, it would have been awesome. We also enjoyed the food at the hotel and the heritage walk. Had the heritage walk been combined with some knowledge of history of the hotel and rooms, it would have been even better.

Taj Gateway Coonoor - Good location and a heritage property. Enjoyed our family stay at Gateway Coonoor. November is not a great month to visit Coonoor, it was cloudy and raining, the mini rail trip was a disappointment because of weather. Feb to April is the best time to visit Coonoor.

Very highly recommended. My last visit to this property was when it was known as the Taj Garden. The property continues to be charming and the maintenance of the rooms and the overall property is faultless. But what makes the hotel really special is the Team, Kamesh, Anand, Sumant, Kiran, Ambika, Theresa, Leona, the house keeping and facilities team members. We enjoyed a very informed discussion with Mr. Ramalingam on local cuisine and Kamesh very kindly spent time explain bits of the local culture and sights. Anand and Sumant went beyond in making my father comfortable.

Wonderful experience in the middle of the tea plantation area. Everyone at Gateway made you feel special and very welcome. Accommodation is of a high standard and the food is excellent and a real taste of India, and a special thanks to Srimanta who guided us through the choices with super knowledge. We had three great days to explore the area with our wonderful guide Prakash who took us to places that regular tourists do not visit and we met local tribes and were welcomed into their homes. As an independent traveller it is important to take some rupees as the tours need to be paid for separately. To reach this magical place is a 2.5 hour drive from Coimbatore. The traffic and scary driving not to mention the 14 hairpin bends that need to be negotiated is an experience and we were grateful to Suresh, our driver, for his excellent skills in negotiating some challenging moments. Not a place for a foreigner to the country to attempt the drive!!!

We stayed at Gateway Coonoor from 21st - 24th Dec and we absolutely loved it. The property is very pretty and the staff - Kiran, Kamesh, Ambika, Theresa, Anand, Srimanta and Awin made our stay really special! Taj is truly the best hospitality chain in the world and it is the people who make it special. Would recommend anyone visiting Coonoor to chose Gateway blindly

Gateway Coonoor went way beyond my expectations . The setting and grounds are beautiful especially with a family of ducks that stayed on the premises. The food and staff were excellent as well as very the cozy and large rooms. Highly recommend.
