Great stop for the night while walking the Camino del Norte. Stayed in a large room with a veranda and a small living room with a TV. Beautiful views from the 2 little balconies. Equipment and design are pretty basic but comfortable and very clean. Great bathroom. There are several great public spaces to unwind (outside terraces, large rooms with cosy sofas etc.) and we enjoyed these as the hotel was almost empty (stay off season). Cannot comment on how relaxing these can be when hotel is busier though. Shame they start serving breakfast at 9.00 am, which is very late from a pilgrim's point of view. Fortunately, there are plenty of bars with delicious pinxos in the closeby village of Colunga (3 kms.) so this eventually was no problem for us. There is no staff on site after 9.30 pm which I found somehow disturbing. And we left at 8.00 am the following mornning, there was still no staff there ! We tried to reach / call someone but no one answered the phone so this can be an issue in case of a major problem. When available, staff was nice and willing to help so the experience was a positive one overall. Would therefore happily recommend this property to pilgrims on the Camino.

I am shocked at the negative reviews left on this site. Hotel Los Caspios is a nice, cosy hotel. Our room was extremely comfortable, even though just a standard one, and the cleanliness was superb. The view from our room was quite incredible; sea to the left, luscious green fields immediately opposite and mountains to the right. Paradise! The beds were very comfortable and the shower was powerful and hot. The breakfast is to be paid for upon departure - expensive (€9 per person) but good with lots of choice, and needs to be reserved a day in advance. The 'public' areas are stunning. They would be extremely cosy in the winter with a roaring fire. And the pool, despite our late summer visit, was clean and inviting. All-in-all in my humble opinion, this is a bit of a gem of a hotel.

The pictures on the website are only obviously from a decade ago when you arrive on site. The drive through the entrance gate only installs you with dread as the spacious gardens are overgrown and laid to pasture. We checked in at reception and were surprised ( not now) to be asked to pay for our stay in advance, not standard procedure in Spain. We were booked into a Superior Room but the first room allocated was terrible. We complained with the owner at reception and were given the key to a better room but never of a superior quality. We stayed for 2 nights and had to get out every day and explore in the pouring rain as relaxing in the hotel was not an option. I am very suspicious of the current reviews being given to this property as having travelled throughout Spain for several years this is by far the worst property we have ever stayed in? Who writes the reviews?

El hotel tiene mucho encanto. Las habitaciones muy amplias y las vistas desde las terrazas espectaculares. El desayuno muy bien. Tienen un servicio de bebidas en los salones (autoservicio y luego pagas). La persona que nos ha atendido muy amable.

Sitio espectacular. Habitación amplia y limpia. Recepcionista muy atento y amable. Tiene unos salones preciosos para poder descansar, leer, charlar, tomar diversas bebidas que te sirves tU mismo y luego abonas . Destacar la zona de la Piscina y la terraza. Sitio muy tranquilo en el que poder disfrutar de la naturaleza, buenas vistas y buena compañía.

Personal amable, servicial, profesional... de sobresaliente. Te hacen sentir en un Hotel de categoría muy superior. Precioso, para viaje de relax y de disfrute del entorno. Vistas preciosas, ubicación espectacular a tan solo 1 kilometro y medio de la autopista. Dudo que ningún hotel de la categoría que elijas tenga una limpieza más esmerada. Déjate aconsejar por el personal del Hotel ¿Qué visitar?¿Donde comer?.
