When we arrived, the mirror was already broken. We came from the airport for new years night and were exhausted. I didn’t notice this until 30 minutes after check in. Just as I was about to unpack to take a shower (the bathroom comes before the bed so I didn’t notice on time), I saw the broken mirror. My partner was outside smoking and came to our room since I messaged him we need to report this to the front desk. We did and he said he will see what he can do. Fine, we ask for a new room and got it. We finished showering only to quickly have to put our clothes on. My hair not even fully dry, to hear the fire alarm go off. This was at 23:00. I wanted to get ready for the evening and go in the city so this was delayed. By the time they announced that it was a false alarm, we were with all our bags outside and I was just praying to god I would not catch a cold. The false alarm was caused by someone who was smoking indoors at the event held downstairs… Absurd. THIS IS NOT HOW YOU START NEW YEAR. Back to our room I had less than 30 minutes left to get ready. We were late to the city and had missed the big countdown. Upon checkout we mentioned those things to another employee from the front desk. The girl was friendly and realised that it wasn’t our fault and tried her best to sort something out with her manager but to no result. The manager made sure we paid for a mirror that we didn’t damage. He simply doesn’t care and is more concerned with his money than clients… We also mentioned how the hotel room was freezing with airconditioning after the shower. Yet in the morning felt like the Sahara desert. Our throats were dry from all the heating that we had to open the window. The spare room we were given last minute was supposed to be a “street view” per the guy who checked us in… It was a view of the cemetery. Despite the girl at the checkout being friendly she kept insisting I didn’t pay. I kept showing proof that I did on trip.com. She understood after not budging a few times that I’m not paying extra and my card had indeed been charged. All in all, a very bad experience. Ended up paying 100€ for the mirror and normally this was “discounted” for mentioning it??? What about not letting an innocent customer pay to begin with? Very disappointing start of the new year and would stay far away unless you like disorganised hotels and a stressful environment instead of a relaxing getaway… Not recommended at all!

The hotel is new about 2 year old. Everything is bright and shiny and modern such as the underground parking with an elevator (20 euro per night). Central location just 5 minutes to the cathedral. Terrific staff, cheerful and helpful. Breakfast was the best I had in Romania so far, 5 sorts of butter to say the least. Excellent place.

A very nice hotel close to the city center, friendly staff an extensive breakfast. Rooms a spacious, luxe and modern. I really enjoyed the stay and will go back next time when I’m in Cluj. The road in front can be a bit busy in the morning, Take that in account when leaving for the airport.

The hotel is spotless , even it was opened more than one year ago. The roims looked like we were the first guests. Since 2014, i stayed in different Marriorr hotels and I am a Titanium member for the last 4 years. The breakfast is the one of the best and very diverse, including local delicacies. I realky recommand it and I will go back for sure.

I've stayed a few times at this hotel ever since it opened, i think is the best hotel in town, far surpassing both Hiltons where I've stayed several times. Best location, great customer service, parking available in the underground garage, food at the restaurant is a bit expensive but very good, coffee was super expensive, you can walk to many coffee shops and get your java at a fraction of the price

I was greeted with coldness at the reception, but the surprise in the room was even moor colder. After several insistences, they changed the heat level a little. Breakfast had to be ordered the day before. A big shame for such a large investment, very good position, but I think the management is inexperienced. I don't understand how Courtyard accepts this situation . As an Elite Ambassador in Bonvoy, I don't recommend this hotel

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel.the hotel only opened in february this year,the decor is modern & fresh & the rooms are roomy & well decorated.the bed & bedding are super comfortable & the rainfall shower is excellent. We ate upon arrive at the hotel bar & the food was very good,with the bar staff & servers very friendly. The hotel is in a great location,just minutes away from the old town square & transfer time from the airport is only 10-15minutes. All in all we had a fantastic stay in the courtyard & would definately recommend Cluj as a city to visit,the restaurants & bars are great & the people are very friendly.its a bonus that it is also very cheap compared to other european cities.

I've stayed well over 1,000 nights in Marriott hotels over the last 20 years & my stay at the Cluj Courtyard was by far the worst experience I have had! We arrived in the hotel pretty late at around 7pm, had a shower & went straight out for dinner, I set the air con to 18deg's before we left as the room was very hot when we arrived. To note there were no instructions on the air con, it was a case of 'trial & error' with the control panel We arrived back at the room at around 10.30pm & the room temperature was showing 25.5deg's 🥵 so I rang to reception to ask what was wrong. I was told that a few adjustments had been made and the room temperature should start to drop so we went to bed. After a couple of hours at around midnight we had to get out of bed as the temperature was just too hot to sleep, it was still showing 25deg's! I was told that the air conditioning must be faulty and there was little that could be done. No fans were available. We did eventually get offered a room across the corridor which he told me would be cooler temperature so I said we would take it just to sleep in. When entering the room across the corridor it was 24deg's but had again been set to 18deg's but we were assured the temperature would drop quickly. We had a cold shower & got into bed although the new room was still very hot. We had a miserable nights sleep with the room being still 23deg's when we left in the morning (it had ran all night set at 18deg's) We had to go back to our original room to pack which was still at 25deg's. The outside temperature that night was 19deg's so both rooms, with the air con on full, were still considerably warmer than the outside temperature! We only really used the hotel to shower & sleep but our experience was terrible & the actual hotel I believe is as good as brand new having only opened a few months ago. The most disappointing thing however is that I have had no communication from the hotel at all since we left. Yes sometimes things go wrong, very, very occasionally things go wrong twice but when as a hotel you know your customers have had an absolutely miserable nights sleep with a combination of multiple phone calls, moving rooms in the middle of the night & little if any actual sleep and you don't even have the decency to apologise makes a terrible stay absolutely shocking! As above, I have spent over 1,000 nights of my life in Marriot hotels and this stay was by far the worst from the one thing that as a hotel you have to get right ie affording your clients a great nights sleep!
