The Fox

The service was excellent, enthusiastic and friendly. In the main the food was good. However The Fox needs to rethink its offering of Fish and Chips. This dish was not good. The chef needs to come up North and see what proper fish and chips is like. Soft Southern David Cameron Fish and Chips is not up to scratch.

Wonderful and well managed hotel in Chipping Norton. We had a lovely quaint room overlooking the main high street. Exceptionally good staff here - Luke welcomed us and quickly checked us in very efficiently and professionally. He explained everything and gave us some all the info we asked for. Very pleasant and efficient service and he even personally took us to our room to ensure we were settled in properly. The bar and restaurant serve very good food and wine and was priced very reasonably. We have a great breakfast the following morning which Lauren ensured was a very enjoyable experience and great way to start the day. She is a charming and caring member of The Fox who you can tell genuinely cares and looks after her guests. My wife and I had a very good stay here and really cannot fault any aspect of it. The staff here are extremely good and its worth staying here just for the care you receive from them.

It's a bit of a curates egg experience almost rescued by the staff who were so friendly and helpful. It's in the middle of town which means you can enjoy a drink without having to drive back anywhere and there is plenty of car parking. Our room was small but the shower was good and the bed comfortable. The beer in the room was a nice touch. However it needed some touching up and the cleaning wasn't great ( hairs in the shower for instance). One thing I found very annoying was that you get breakfast free if you book direct but not if you book through Tripadvisor so, effectively, the customer is paying the pubs marketing costs as selling through Tripadvisor is a form of marketing. Ok but could be better.

We booked the hotel for two nights last week as we had a wedding at St Marys Church, five minutes away. The hotel and rooms were superb! Lovely decor, beautiful room, Lovely food and huge breakfast! Ben and his team personified excellent service and Ben went above and beyond when I discovered I had a tyre puncture on the wedding day itself! What could have been a disaster was averted by Ben, who kindly pumped the tyre up enough to enable us get to the local Kwik fit garage. Will definately be staying there again. it was excellent value. Thank you Ben and Team. Hope you enjoyed the Chocs we left all of you!

Found an amazing deal on their own website for dinner bed and breakfast which I thought was a bit to good to be true so rang them check it wasn’t a mistake before booking. Turned out it was but as I had made them aware with photos of what the public could see on their website I was told if I booked straight away they would have to honour it. 30 minutes later I received another phone call to say they couldn’t honour it but would offer me b&b and made it sound they were doing me a good deal even though that was the price that was also advertised on their website. On turning up at the hotel we walked through the door to hearing management slagging us off even though we had made them aware of a problem with their website. Then later in the evening in another pub we met a young girl who had been in the fox when we checked in for her to tell us they continued to bad mouth us while we were being taken to our room. They did provide us with a complimentary round of drinks but this did not make up for the terrible customer service we experienced just for making them aware of a problem on their website. To make matters even worse when I woke up the following morning I was covered in hives and had to rush to the nearest chemist for anti histamines.

Tuesday night was Burger night, the Burgers we had were very, minute disgraceful if we hadn't have had chips the plates would have been very empty. No garnish with the Burger,for the price would have expected some sort of salad on the plate.will not be going again.

Stayed one night at this lovely pub. Great friendly staff and good drinks. The room was perfect, clean, tidy and the free beer and brandy in the room was a great touch.

We would definitely recommend staying here what a fantastic place STAFF…. Absolutely amazing, everyone is happy, friendly and go above and beyond to make your stay perfect ROOM… we stayed in room 4 looking over the square, what a stunning little room, everything you need, great shower, such a comfy bed and all immaculately clean FOOD.. breakfast is amazing lots of choice , I’m a veggie so that’s well catered for too, my husband loved the big breakfast too. Also small buffet to choose as well as cooked breakfast Dinner was also amazing we ate here both nights as there was no need to eat anywhere else as food was too nice here. If your coming to Chipping Norton then this is the place to stay Thanks to Ben and all your team your all amazing

Perfect stop over. We decided on an overnight stay here after visiting RIAT23 so we could take in a visit the following morning at Clarkson’s Diddley Squat farm shop, so didn’t stay in Chadlington as no doubt it would have incurred the wrath of its local council. The Fox is spot on. Parking was easy. Staff at the bar greeted us, showed us to our room and made us very welcome. Plenty of quality items in the room for our stay. I took the shower gel home and have ordered some from the web site. The room was clean and pleasant to stay in. We ate in the restaurant for an evening meal and breakfast the following morning. No payment was required until checking out. As no tip had been requested we gave a good one on settling the bill, it was deserved. Staff were so attentive. As it in the high street overnight noise might disturb you, but it didn’t me. Do I recommend it? Well I’ve just booked it for next year rather then get closer to RIAT at RAF Fairford.
